The Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Skopje has opened an investigation into a 19-year-old suspected of the criminal offense of “Violence.”

According to the prosecution, the suspect and his underage brother, who has not reached the age of criminal responsibility, assaulted a child and an adult, inflicting serious knife wounds on them. Another child sustained minor injuries. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the incident caused insecurity, alarm, fear and anxiety among citizens and those present at the scene.

The public prosecutor has asked the pre-trial judge to order the 19-year-old’s detention.

Interior Minister Pançe Toshkovski said the injured minor is in a very serious condition and is fighting for his life.

“One person is currently in a very serious medical condition and is fighting for his life. The person in question is a minor, while according to initial information received from the Ministry’s services, the person who committed the criminal offense is also a minor. The child who suffered serious bodily injuries and the child who inflicted them are of the same generation, both born in 2012,” Toshkovski said.

The Municipality of Çair responded in a statement, expressing deep regret over the case and wishing the seriously injured minor a speedy recovery.

“Regarding the information published in the media, we clarify that the incident in question did not occur within the territory of the Municipality of Çair. The investigation and full determination of the circumstances surrounding the case fall under the jurisdiction of the relevant institutions.”

The municipality called on the media to report carefully and accurately verify the information, including the location of the incident, due to the sensitive nature of the event and the fact that minors were involved, so as not to create a misleading public perception./Telegrafi/
