The Left party has reacted harshly after the poisoning of citizens in Gostivar, emphasizing that this incident cannot be explained simply as a technical error or isolated carelessness.

Initial investigations have shown that untreated water was introduced into the water supply network. The Institute of Public Health has identified coliform fecal bacteria, while laboratory tests have revealed high levels of residual chlorine, which signals an attempt to correct the contamination after it had occurred. This situation, according to them, shows that a vital public service was managed in a way that directly endangered the health of thousands of people, and for this reason there must be full legal accountability for all those involved.

However, they warn that if the incident is closed only with the finding of individual guilt, the fundamental question remains unresolved: why is the state repeatedly experiencing disasters that were avoidable. They recalled the case of the bus accident of the company “Durmo Turs”, which highlighted the failure of the inspection system, as well as the scandal at the Oncology Clinic that exposed a total lack of control and accountability in the healthcare sector for years. The events in Kërçovë once again brought to attention the consequences of a deeply politicized inspection system, local government, and central institutions. Even in cases of femicides, almost without exception the question arises as to why the authorities did not intervene in time despite numerous warning signs.

According to The Left, although the immediate causes differ from case to case, their common feature is institutional destruction nurtured for decades by politicization. They directly accuse SDSM, VMRO-DPMNE, DUI, and the VLEN coalition of treating the state as party property.

In this reality, leadership positions are not earned based on professional skills and integrity, but as a reward for political loyalty. This causes state enterprises, inspectorates, and other bodies to gradually lose the capacity to act in the citizens’ interest. Politicization, they emphasize, is not simply an unfair employment practice, but a mechanism that erodes the state from within, turning oversight into an empty formality and replacing responsibility with mutual cover-up among parties. Honest professionals in this environment are either excluded or forced to leave the public administration. In such a context, mistakes do not remain mere administrative violations but inevitably turn into scandals, tragedies, and loss of life.

For this reason, every new executive promises reforms, but citizens continue to pay the price with their health, safety, and sometimes even their lives. The Left stresses that it has long warned that politicization is not merely an administrative issue, but a deeply social and security problem. A state where professionalism is methodically replaced by party obedience inevitably generates institutions destined to fail. Therefore, the real challenge lies not only in punishing those responsible but in dismantling the system that continually manufactures new culprits. The Gostivar case is not an anomaly, just as dozens of other cases that have shaken public opinion in recent years were not. All of these are symptoms of a political model that for decades has undermined institutions in favor of party interests. As long as institutions are built on party logic rather than professional logic, Macedonia will not cease producing new tragedies, concludes The Left’s reaction.

Nga hetimet e deritanishme ka rezultuar se në rrjetin e ujësjellësit është futur ujë i patrajtuar. Instituti i Shëndetit Publik ka identifikuar baktere fekale koliforme, ndërsa testet laboratorike kanë zbuluar nivele të larta të klorit residual, çka sinjalizon një tentativë për të korrigjuar ndotjen pasi ajo kishte ndodhur. Kjo situatë, sipas tyre, tregon se një shërbim jetik publik është administruar në mënyrë që ka vënë në rrezik të drejtpërdrejtë shëndetin e mijëra njerëzve dhe për këtë arsye duhet të ketë llogaridhënie të plotë ligjore për të gjithë të implikuarit.

Megjithatë, ata paralajmërojnë se nëse ngjarja përmbyllet vetëm me gjetjen e fajësisë individuale, mbetet pa zgjidhje pyetja thelbësore: pse shteti po përjeton në mënyrë të përsëritur fatkeqësi që ishin të shmangshme. Ngjarjet në Kërçovë sollën sërish në vëmendje pasojat e një sistemi inspektues, pushteti vendor dhe institucioneve qendrore të politizuara thellësisht. Edhe te rastet e femicideve, thuajse pa përjashtim shtrohet pyetja se pse autoritetet nuk ndërhynë në kohë pavarësisht sinjaleve të shumta paralajmëruese.

Sipas të Majtës, megjithëse shkaktarët e menjëhershëm ndryshojnë nga njëri rast në tjetrin, e përbashkëta e tyre është shkatërrimi institucional i ushqyer prej dekadash nga politizimi. Ata akuzojnë drejtpërdrejt LSDM-në, OBRM-PDUKM-në, BDI-në dhe koalicionin VLEN se e trajtojnë shtetin si pronë partiake.

Në këtë realitet, postet drejtuese nuk fitohen mbi bazën e aftësive profesionale dhe ndershmërisë, por si shpërblim për besnikërinë politike. Kjo bën që ndërmarrjet shtetërore, inspektoratet dhe organet e tjera të humbasin gradualisht kapacitetin për të vepruar në të mirën e qytetarëve. Politizimi, theksojnë ata, nuk është thjesht një praktikë e padrejtë punësimi, por një mekanizëm që gërryen shtetin nga brenda, duke e kthyer mbikëqyrjen në një formalitet të zbrazët dhe duke zëvendësuar përgjegjësinë me mbulim reciprok mes partive. Profesionistët e ndershëm në këtë mjedis ose përjashtohen, ose detyrohen të largohen nga administrata publike. Në një kontekst të tillë, gabimet nuk mbesin thjesht shkelje administrative, por shndërrohen në mënyrë të pashmangshme në skandale, tragjedi dhe humbje jetësh.

Për këtë arsye, çdo ekzekutiv i ri premton reforma, por qytetarët vijojnë të paguajnë çmimin me shëndetin, sigurinë dhe ndonjëherë edhe jetën e tyre. E Majta thekson se prej kohësh ka paralajmëruar se politizimi nuk përbën një çështje thjesht administrative, por një problem thellësisht shoqëror dhe të sigurisë. Një shtet ku profesionalizmi zëvendësohet metodikisht nga bindja partiake, në mënyrë të pashmangshme gjeneron institucione të destinuara të dështojnë. Prandaj sfida e vërtetë nuk qëndron vetëm te ndëshkimi i përgjegjësve, por te çmontimi i atij sistemi që fabrikon vazhdimisht fajtorë të rinj. Rasti i Gostivarit nuk është një anomali, ashtu siç nuk ishin as dhjetëra raste të tjera që kanë tronditur opinionin publik vitet e fundit. Të gjitha këto janë simptoma të një modeli politik që për dekada të tëra ka minuar institucionet në favor të interesave partiake. Për sa kohë që institucionet ndërtohen mbi logjikë partiake e jo mbi atë profesionale, Maqedonia nuk do të reshtë së prodhuari tragjedi të reja, përfundon reagimi i të Majtës.

In its response, the party stressed that the three parties had coordinated their actions to obstruct one of the key laws under the Reform Agenda. VMRO-DPMNE believes the reason lies in their fear of defeat, due to what it describes as their low level of public support.

According to the ruling party, the Government has expressed willingness to reach a broad political agreement and has presented a solution in line with the recommendations of international institutions. This solution, it said, also provides for the possibility for the diaspora to exercise its right to vote.

However, VMRO-DPMNE claims that SDSM, DUI and Levica have chosen obstruction instead of agreement. The party added that, for the first time, the government had offered opposition parties the opportunity to agree on solutions they themselves consider acceptable, but that the offer had been rejected.

VMRO-DPMNE underlined that Macedonia ranks among the most successful countries in the region in fulfilling its obligations under the Reform Agenda. According to the party, this is also expected to be demonstrated by the funds the country will receive from the European Union’s Growth Plan.

The party added that European representatives have called for political consensus to be reached on the adoption of the Electoral Code.

In the same statement, the party expressed the view that it is incomprehensible that, according to it, SDSM and Levica continue to block laws stemming from the Reform Agenda.

“Every obstacle from SDSM and Levica does not obstruct the Government, but instead obstructs the fulfillment of the state’s obligations and endangers the opportunities opened up by the Growth Plan,” the statement said.

VMRO-DPMNE called on SDSM and Levica to abandon their day-to-day political interests and support the laws related to the Reform Agenda, including the Electoral Code, stressing that they are in the interest of the citizens and the country’s European future.
