A heated debate erupted today in the Serbian Assembly after Speaker Ana Bërnabiq intervened angrily to correct a lawmaker who had described Kosovo as a neighboring state.

During a discussion on the challenges facing Serbia, lawmaker Dobrica Veselinoviq of the “Green Front” used the term “our neighbors” in reference to Kosovo.

Although she allowed him to finish speaking, Bërnabiq responded immediately afterward, describing it as a personal position and in no way an institutional one.

“For the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, these are not neighbors. Kosovo is an inseparable territory of Serbia. The Autonomous Province of Kosovo. This may be your personal opinion, and that is clear, which is why I did not interrupt you, but it does not represent the official position of this institution,” she stated.

He spoke after the LDK Presidency meeting, saying that this issue was also reviewed and that different positions were presented at the meeting.

Zemaj said he belongs to a branch which, according to him, unanimously expressed the view that the LDK should go to early elections and that there should be reflection on the June electoral process across all party structures.

“I belong to a branch which unanimously expressed the opinion that there should be early elections and that there should be reflection on the June electoral process in all LDK structures. Not only have I signed it, but there are more than 150 signatures requesting an extraordinary LDK Assembly.

I do not know whether they have been submitted, but what is also confirmed and was debated with the utmost seriousness, there were also requests that there was no need for early elections, but there were also opinions that the LDK chairman should continue,” Zemaj said.
