The Klos Municipal Council continued its series of public consultations in the Gurrë Administrative Unit to gather residents’ views on the administrative-territorial reform.

During the discussions, citizens expressed differing opinions on the possibility of merging Klos Municipality with Mat Municipality.

Some of the residents who spoke at the meeting supported carrying out the reform and placing Klos under Mat, citing their dissatisfaction with the services provided by Klos Municipality.

Meanwhile, many other participants opposed the dissolution of the municipality.

According to them, such a merger would place services even farther away from citizens. They also highlighted the investments carried out recently, including the asphalting of roads.

Before making a decision on the matter, the Klos Municipal Council will hold its next public consultation in the Suç Administrative Unit.

The Klos Municipal Council convened to discuss the project proposed by the Socialist Party for a new territorial division, which envisages dissolving Klos Municipality and merging it with Mat Municipality.

Also attending the meeting was Klos Mayor Valbona Kola, who was elected from the ranks of the Socialist Party. She said that public hearings would be held in all the villages of the municipality before any decision is made.

She stressed that her position would be in line with the will of Klos residents, emphasizing that if citizens oppose the dissolution of the municipality and its merger with Mat, she too will be opposed.

“I want to make it clear, as someone elected by my citizens, that the mayor’s chair is not established for one person or for the personal interests of an individual. The mayor is a servant of the community that has placed its trust in and voted for them. The mayor’s chair belongs to the citizens, just as the municipal institution provides services to all citizens without distinction. As an elected official, I will stand by the citizens’ opinion: if the citizens are in favor, I will be in favor; if the citizens are opposed, I will be opposed,” the mayor said.
