The assassination of KLA Colonel Ahmet Krasniqi in Tirana in 1998 remains one of the most high-profile events of that period. Skënder Zogaj, one of the founders of the LDK, has also spoken recently about the case.

Commenting on suspicions about Xhavit Haliti’s involvement, Zogaj said that Haliti had not done enough to help shed light on the murder.

“My question for Xhavit Haliti is how he can remain so indifferent to the murder of Ahmet Krasniqi. I regret that he did not become more actively involved in finding out who killed the greatest man of the war. If he was innocent, he should have done more; if he had been innocent, he would have become more involved in uncovering the perpetrator of Ahmet Krasniqi’s murder,” Skënder Zogaj said on the program “Debate Corner” on Tëvë1.

Zogaj also claimed that Fatos Klosi, the former head of Albania’s Intelligence Service, is one of the people linked to Krasniqi’s murder.

“I am convinced that Fatos Klosi is one of his killers, because he uncovered some minor crimes as well, but he did not deal with solving the murder of Ahmet Krasniqi. Mithat Tavari, the chief of the Tirana Police, stated that they knew some of the killers’ names and would make them public in due course. We were reassured because we believed that the Albanian state was working to uncover the truth. However, the investigation was halted in record time. To me, this shows that Klosi knew who the killer was,” Skënder Zogaj said.
