The Chief Prosecutor of Kosovo’s Special Prosecution Office, Blerim Isufaj, met with the British ambassador, Jonathan Hargreaves.

During the meeting, the two officials discussed the latest developments in the rule of law.

The British ambassador congratulated the Special Prosecution Office on its work and reaffirmed his support, emphasizing the importance of continuing cooperation.

According to a statement published on Facebook, Isufaj also praised the continuation of cooperation with the British authorities, which he described as among the Special Prosecution Office’s main institutional partners.

During a meeting of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council (KPC), member Visar Krasniqi asked the chief prosecutor of the Special Prosecution Office, Blerim Isufaj, about the claim that he had asked former Acting Chief State Prosecutor Besim Kelmendi for the position of Chief State Prosecutor.

Krasniqi referred to official documents, asking Isufaj why he had gone to Kelmendi’s office to request the position, reports “Betimi për Drejtësi”.

Isufaj replied that he had the right to go to the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor, but denied the truth of the rest of Kelmendi’s statement.

“Why wouldn’t I have the right to go and meet him? That other part is untrue,” Isufaj declared.

Krasniqi then also raised the issue of Kelmendi’s dismissal, saying that, based on public and official statements, Isufaj had been interested in removing him and that Kelmendi’s remaining in the post had been an obstacle for him. Isufaj rejected these claims, saying that Kelmendi had neither hindered him nor had he requested his dismissal.

During the meeting, it was also announced that prosecutor Laura Pula, from the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor, had reached retirement age.

Gjatë mbledhjes së Këshillit Prokurorial të Kosovës (KPK), anëtari Visar Krasniqi e pyeti kryeprokurorin e Prokurorisë Speciale, Blerim Isufajn, lidhur me pretendimin se ai kishte kërkuar nga ish-u.d. Kryeprokurori i Shtetit, Besim Kelmendi, pozitën e Kryeprokurorit të Shtetit.

Krasniqi iu referua dokumenteve zyrtare, duke e pyetur Isufajn për arsyen pse kishte shkuar në zyrën e Kelmendit për të kërkuar këtë pozitë, raporton “Betimi për Drejtësi”.

Isufaj u përgjigj se e kishte të drejtën të shkonte në Zyrën e Kryeprokurorit të Shtetit, por mohoi vërtetësinë e pjesës tjetër të deklarimit të Kelmendit.

“Pse s’kam të drejtë me shku m’u taku a, ajo pjesa tjetër e pavërtetë”, deklaroi Isufaj.

Më pas, Krasniqi ngriti edhe çështjen e shkarkimit të Kelmendit, duke thënë se, bazuar në deklarimet publike dhe zyrtare, Isufaj kishte pasur interes për largimin e tij dhe se qëndrimi i Kelmendit në atë detyrë e pengonte. Isufaj i hodhi poshtë këto pretendime, duke thënë se as nuk ishte penguar nga Kelmendi dhe as nuk kishte kërkuar shkarkimin e tij.

Gjatë takimit u njoftua gjithashtu se prokurorja Laura Pula, nga Zyra e Kryeprokurorit të Shtetit, ka mbushur moshën e pensionimit.
