The body of M.M. (71), a resident of Skopje, has been recovered from Lake Prespa, the Ministry of Interior announced.

According to the statement, the operation was carried out on August 11, 2026, at 1:15 p.m., near the Pretor tourist resort. The body was recovered by a specialized diving team from the “Tigers” Special Anti-Terrorist Unit.

The 71-year-old had been reported to the Bitola Internal Affairs Sector on August 8, 2026, at around 12:20 p.m. He had jumped from a boat into the lake near the village of Slimnica, in the Resen area, to retrieve oars that had fallen into the water.

A team from the Bitola Internal Affairs Sector-Resen Police Department conducted an on-site investigation. By order of the public prosecutor, the deceased’s body was sent for an autopsy at the Bitola Clinical Hospital, the Interior Ministry said.

Citizens have been informed by the Ministry of the Interior that on Monday, July 27, 2026, Greek customs officers will stop working at the border crossings of Evzoni (Bogorodica), Dojrani (Dojran), and Niki (Medzhitlija). The announcement is based on data provided by relevant Greek institutions.

According to the notice, between 05:00 and 09:00 Macedonia time (which corresponds to 06:00–10:00 Greek time), passenger vehicles will only be able to cross in ten-minute intervals. Following the entry into force on July 14 of amendments to the Law on Road Traffic Safety, police have begun imposing penalties on electric scooter riders who violate the new rules. A total of 12 fines have been issued so far.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs said three people were fined for riding electric scooters without protective helmets. The fine for this violation is 50 euros.

Nine other penalties, each worth 80 euros, were imposed on riders who used scooters in areas where such vehicles are not permitted.

One case of mobile phone use while riding an electric scooter was also recorded, a violation punishable by a fine of 100 euros.

According to the Interior Ministry, all those penalized so far are adults, and no electric scooters have been confiscated.

As police said, the case was registered on July 11 at around 15:00, when an initial fight broke out between the two minors in front of a hospitality venue in Saraj.
