The main bridge over the Ibër River in Mitrovica, which connects the southern and northern parts of the city, has for years been considered one of the most sensitive symbols of inter-ethnic division in Kosovo. Although pedestrians can cross it, vehicle traffic has remained impossible for years. The bridge’s opening has also been discussed במסגרת the dialogue mediated by the European Union.

Security analyst Dorajet Imeri describes the Serb List’s opposition to the bridge’s opening as paradoxical and illogical. According to him, the party’s position contradicts the normalization of relations and the region’s goal of integration into the European Union, which also entails removing barriers between states and citizens.

The Serb List opposed the bridge’s opening after Brussels announced that the security conditions for such a move had been created. In a letter sent to the EU Office in Pristina, the party requested the publication of the security analysis on which the decision was based. It also expressed doubts about the role of the Kosovo Police in protecting Serbs.

The party, which Imeri describes as a representative of Belgrade and its narratives in Kosovo, has stated that opening the bridge without the participation and approval of the Serbian side in the Brussels dialogue calls into question the process itself and the agreements reached there. The Serb List has also asked the European Union to clarify responsibility in the event of any incident or deterioration in the security situation, although following the withdrawal of KFOR it has been made clear that security in this area will be the responsibility of the Kosovo Police.

Speaking to KosovaPress, political analyst Dorajet Imeri said that the problem does not lie in opening the bridge, but in the attempt to keep it as an obstacle between citizens.

“There is a political contradiction that must be emphasized. If the future of the region is linked to integration into the European Union, the normalization of relations and the gradual elimination of barriers between peoples and citizens, then there can be no justification for demanding that a bridge remain a symbol of division. One cannot speak of normalization in Brussels while simultaneously opposing freedom of movement on the ground, one of the key principles of the European idea. In this way, the Serb List is seeking to preserve and erect barriers between citizens,” Imeri told KosovaPress.

According to him, the Ibër Bridge should be viewed as public infrastructure available to all citizens, regardless of ethnic affiliation. The issue, he added, should not be treated as a political or ethnic confrontation over ownership of the bridge, but as a matter related to freedom of movement, communication and integration.

“Mitrovica’s main bridge is, above all, a public space and infrastructure that should serve citizens. It is not the property of Albanians, Serbs, any party or government, but belongs to the citizens of Kosovo, regardless of ethnicity. Its function should be to enable movement, communication and integration. This is precisely where the Serb List’s paradox becomes apparent: an entity that claims to defend the Serbian community must explain how keeping the bridge closed improves the life, security or future of this community. This is completely paradoxical and illogical, because the bridge should serve the movement, security and well-being of people—objectives that every political entity should have, apparently with the exception of the Serb List,” Imeri stressed.

Ura kryesore mbi lumin Ibër në Mitrovicë, e cila lidh pjesën jugore me atë veriore të qytetit, prej vitesh konsiderohet një nga simbolet më të ndjeshme të ndarjes ndëretnike në Kosovë. Analisti i çështjeve të sigurisë, Dorajet Imeri, e cilëson paradoksale dhe të palogjikshme kundërshtimin e Listës Serbe ndaj hapjes së urës. Sipas tij, qëndrimi i kësaj partie bie ndesh me normalizimin e marrëdhënieve dhe synimin e rajonit për integrim në Bashkimin Evropian, ku parashihet edhe heqja e barrierave mes shteteve dhe qytetarëve.

Lista Serbe reagoi kundër hapjes së urës pasi nga Brukseli u bë e ditur se janë krijuar kushtet e sigurisë për një veprim të tillë. Në letrën dërguar Zyrës së BE-së në Prishtinë, partia kërkoi që të publikohej analiza e sigurisë mbi të cilën është mbështetur ky vendim. Ajo shprehu dyshime edhe për rolin e Policisë së Kosovës në mbrojtjen e serbëve.

Partia, të cilën Imeri e përshkruan si përfaqësuese të Beogradit dhe narrativave të tij në Kosovë, ka deklaruar se hapja e urës pa pjesëmarrjen dhe miratimin e palës serbe në dialogun e Brukselit vë në pikëpyetje vetë procesin dhe marrëveshjet e arritura atje. Lista Serbe i ka kërkuar gjithashtu Bashkimit Evropian të sqarojë përgjegjësitë në rast të ndonjë incidenti ose përkeqësimi të situatës së sigurisë, ndonëse pas largimit të KFOR-it është bërë e qartë se siguria në këtë pjesë do të jetë përgjegjësi e Policisë së Kosovës.

Duke folur për KosovaPress, analisti politik Dorajet Imeri tha se problemi nuk qëndron te hapja e urës, por te përpjekja për ta mbajtur atë si pengesë mes qytetarëve.

“Ekziston një kundërthënie politike që duhet theksuar. Nëse e ardhmja e rajonit lidhet me integrimin në Bashkimin Evropian, normalizimin e marrëdhënieve dhe eliminimin gradual të barrierave mes popujve e qytetarëve, atëherë nuk mund të justifikohet kërkesa që një urë të mbetet simbol i ndarjes. Nuk mund të flitet për normalizim në Bruksel dhe njëkohësisht të kundërshtohet në terren liria e lëvizjes, një prej parimeve kryesore të idesë evropiane. Në këtë mënyrë, Lista Serbe po kërkon ruajtjen dhe ngritjen e barrierave mes qytetarëve”, deklaroi Imeri për KosovaPress.

Sipas tij, Ura e Ibrit duhet të shihet si infrastrukturë publike në dispozicion të të gjithë qytetarëve, pa dallim të përkatësisë etnike. Çështja, shtoi ai, nuk duhet të trajtohet si përplasje politike apo etnike mbi pronësinë e urës, por si një çështje që lidhet me lëvizjen e lirë, komunikimin dhe integrimin.

“Ura kryesore e Mitrovicës është para së gjithash hapësirë publike dhe infrastrukturë që duhet t’u shërbejë qytetarëve. Ajo nuk është pronë e shqiptarëve, serbëve, ndonjë partie apo qeverie, por u takon qytetarëve të Kosovës, pavarësisht etnisë. Funksioni i saj duhet të jetë mundësimi i lëvizjes, komunikimit dhe integrimit. Pikërisht këtu shfaqet paradoksi i Listës Serbe: një subjekt që pretendon se mbron komunitetin serb duhet të shpjegojë se në ç’mënyrë mbajtja e urës të mbyllur përmirëson jetën, sigurinë apo të ardhmen e këtij komuniteti. Kjo është krejtësisht paradoksale dhe e palogjikshme, sepse ura duhet të shërbejë për lëvizjen, sigurinë dhe mirëqenien e njerëzve, objektiva që duhet t’i ketë çdo subjekt politik, me sa duket me përjashtim të Listës Serbe”, theksoi Imeri.

Haki Imeri has made a direct appeal to the Democratic League of Kosovo not to enter into political cooperation with PDK and AAK.

In a Facebook post, he addressed “friends from LDK,” urging the party not to become involved in what he described as the “criminal causes and activities of PDK-AAK.”

“LDK must not become involved in the criminal causes and activities of PDK-AAK,” Imeri wrote.

In his view, the causes pursued by PDK and AAK serve the “northern neighbor,” as well as Serbian-Albanian criminal groups.

Imeri also made more serious claims, alleging that certain political initiatives are aimed at weakening and dismantling the state of Kosovo.

“The causes of the parties of crime are contrived to dismantle the state of Kosovo,” he stated.

In the same post, he called on LDK to cooperate only with people who, according to him, “do not have blood on their hands.”

Referring also to the West’s position, Imeri claimed that Western partners do not support political leaders facing serious charges.

His reaction was published at a time when clashes and tensions between Kosovo’s political parties are continuing, while discussions about possible political cooperation and alliances remain in the public spotlight.

Imeri ka ngritur gjithashtu pretendime më të rënda, sipas të cilave disa nisma politike kanë për synim dobësimin dhe zhbërjen e shtetit të Kosovës.

“Kauzat e partive të krimit sajohen për ta shpërbërë shtetin e Kosovës”, ka deklaruar ai.

Përmes të njëjtit postim, ai e ka ftuar LDK-në të bashkëpunojë vetëm me persona që, sipas tij, “nuk i kanë duart e zhytura me gjak”.

Duke iu referuar edhe qëndrimit të Perëndimit, Imeri ka pretenduar se partnerët perëndimorë nuk u japin mbështetje udhëheqësve politikë që përballen me akuza të rënda.

Familja e veprimtarit Haki Imeri ka dalë me një reagim publik, ku akuzon drejtimin aktual të LDK-së se është larguar nga interesat e qytetarëve dhe të elektoratit të vet.

Sipas këtij reagimi, drejtuesit e partisë po ndikohen nga grupe të lidhura me PDK-në, ndërsa po lihet në harresë kujtesa dhe sakrifica e veprimtarëve të LDK-së.
