Albulena Haxhiu, acting president of Kosovo, has reacted to the results of analyses published by the Food and Veterinary Agency (FVA) concerning dairy products. According to her, the findings demonstrate serious violations, while there can be no compromise when it comes to food safety.

Haxhiu said the analyses had identified the undeclared presence on labels of powdered milk, palm oil and whey. She also stressed that water intended for irrigation had been used during production.

According to her, the issue can no longer be treated as a technical problem. Haxhiu said consumers are deceived when they pay for milk but receive a different product, while the use of unsuitable water in food production shifts the problem from labeling to a threat to public health.

She said the situation was made even more serious by the fact that the dairy industry receives state subsidies and financial support.

Haxhiu declared that funds collected by the state from citizens cannot be used to support an industry that then sells them products that do not match the description on the label and could endanger their health. For this reason, she said, accountability is essential.

The acting president said that farmers are also affected by these practices. They deliver milk without additional ingredients and wait a long time to be paid, while their work in the product is replaced by cheaper ingredients.

She summarized the situation by saying that the farmer’s name continues to appear on the label, but his contribution and work are no longer found in the product.

Haxhiu called for immediate action against the operators responsible for the violations. According to her, the measures should include removing the products from the market and suspending the activities of entities operating without authorization.

She stressed that every product in which critical violations have been identified must be withdrawn from sale, while unauthorized activity must be suspended regardless of who is involved. If elements of a criminal offense are identified, Haxhiu called for the case to be referred to the prosecution.

According to her, inspections should not focus only on the dairy sector but should also be expanded to other areas of the food industry.

In conclusion, Haxhiu said citizens should not be forced to guess about the contents of their glass or plate, but should consume exactly the food and drink for which they have paid.

Albulena Haxhiu, u.d. presidentja e Kosovës, ka reaguar ndaj rezultateve të analizave të publikuara nga Agjencia e Ushqimit dhe Veterinarisë (AUV) për produktet e qumështit. Sipas saj, gjetjet dëshmojnë shkelje të rënda, ndërsa për sigurinë ushqimore nuk mund të ketë kompromis.

Haxhiu bëri të ditur se analizat kanë evidentuar praninë e padeklaruar në etiketa të qumështit pluhur, vajit të palmës dhe hirrës. Ajo theksoi gjithashtu se gjatë prodhimit është përdorur ujë i paraparë për ujitje.

Sipas saj, çështja nuk mund të trajtohet më si problem teknik. Haxhiu tha se qytetari mashtrohet kur paguan për qumësht, por merr një produkt tjetër, ndërsa përdorimi i ujit të papërshtatshëm në prodhimin ushqimor e zhvendos problemin nga etiketimi te rrezikimi i shëndetit publik.

Ajo vlerësoi se situata rëndohet edhe më shumë nga fakti që industria e qumështit merr subvencione dhe përkrahje financiare shtetërore.

Haxhiu deklaroi se fondet që shteti mbledh nga qytetarët nuk mund të përdoren për të mbështetur një industri që më pas u shet atyre produkte të cilat nuk përputhen me përshkrimin në etiketë dhe mund t’ua rrezikojnë shëndetin. Për këtë arsye, sipas saj, llogaridhënia është e domosdoshme.

U.d. presidentja tha se nga këto praktika pësojnë edhe fermerët, të cilët dorëzojnë qumësht pa përbërës shtesë dhe presin për një kohë të gjatë që të paguhen, ndërkohë që në produkt puna e tyre zëvendësohet me përbërës më të lirë.

Ajo e përmblodhi këtë situatë duke thënë se emri i fermerit vazhdon të figurojë në etiketë, por kontributi dhe puna e tij nuk gjenden më në produkt.

Haxhiu kërkoi ndërhyrje të menjëhershme kundër operatorëve përgjegjës për shkeljet. Masat, sipas saj, duhet të përfshijnë largimin e produkteve nga tregu dhe pezullimin e aktivitetit të subjekteve që veprojnë pa autorizim.

Ajo theksoi se çdo produkt ku janë konstatuar shkelje kritike duhet të tërhiqet nga shitja, ndërsa aktiviteti i paautorizuar duhet të suspendohet pa marrë parasysh se për kë bëhet fjalë. Në rast se konstatohen elemente të veprës penale, Haxhiu kërkoi që rasti t’i referohet prokurorisë.

Kontrollet, sipas saj, nuk duhet të përqendrohen vetëm te sektori i qumështit, por duhet të zgjerohen edhe në fusha të tjera të industrisë ushqimore.

Në përfundim, Haxhiu tha se qytetarët nuk duhet të detyrohen të hamendësojnë për përmbajtjen e gotës apo pjatës së tyre, por duhet të konsumojnë pikërisht ushqimin dhe pijen për të cilat kanë paguar.

Sources within the Presidency confirmed the decision to “Betimi për Drejtësi”.

The decree was issued one day after the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, at its 298th meeting on Monday, nominated Gashi for Chief State Prosecutor and proposed his name to Haxhiu for appointment by decree, “Betimi për Drejtësi” reports.

Five candidates took part in the process for the position: Atdhe Dema, Naim Abazi, Rafet Halimi, Shqipdon Fazliu and Zejnullah Gashi.

The Evaluation Panel published the results following interviews held on July 1, 2026. Zejnullah Gashi was awarded 91.6 points, Atdhe Dema 89.3 points, Naim Abazi 89 points, Rafet Halimi 87 points, and Shqipdon Fazliu 86.3 points.

The KPC also made public the interviews of all five candidates.

Candidate Atdhe Dema had filed a complaint regarding his evaluation in the selection process for Chief State Prosecutor. However, the Council rejected the complaint at its meeting on July 10, 2026.

On June 19, 2026, the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council (KPC) approved the candidacies of the five contenders for the post, with six votes in favour and one against.

The decision to open the competition for Chief State Prosecutor was made at a meeting of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council on May 18, 2026.

After the competition was announced, Blerim Isufaj, the Chief Prosecutor of the Special Prosecution Office of the Republic of Kosovo, filed a lawsuit with the Administrative Court, seeking an interim security measure to suspend the competition announced by the KPC. His request was rejected by the Administrative Court, a decision also upheld by the Court of Appeals.

Më 19 qershor 2026, Këshilli Prokurorial i Kosovës (KPK) i kishte miratuar kandidaturat e pesë garuesve për këtë post, me 6 vota për dhe 1 kundër.

Vendimi për hapjen e konkursit për Kryeprokuror të Shtetit ishte marrë në mbledhjen e Këshillit Prokurorial të Kosovës më 18 maj 2026.

Pas publikimit të konkursit, kryeprokurori i Prokurorisë Speciale të Republikës së Kosovës, Blerim Isufaj, kishte ngritur padi në Gjykatën Administrative, duke kërkuar masë të sigurisë për pezullimin e konkursit të shpallur nga KPK-ja.
