Following the outbreak of an epidemic caused by contaminated water, Gostivar’s hospital and health center have recorded another increase in the number of residents seeking medical assistance.

Health Ministry data show that the number of patients fell sharply to just 80 on July 24, before rising to 125 a day later, on July 25.

The ministry has made these figures public but has not explained the reasons that may have contributed to the renewed upward trend.

The largest influx was recorded on July 18, when a total of 649 patients sought medical assistance. From July 14 to July 25, the total number of people who sought treatment reached 4,070.

Water in Gostivar remains unsafe to drink, while it is expected to be available for technical use tomorrow.
