Albin Kurti, leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, sent a letter to Alliance leader Ardian Gjini, inviting him to a meeting on the establishment of the institutions of the 11th legislature.

Kurti congratulated the Alliance’s lawmakers after they took their oath, while stressing that coordination among political entities is needed for the election of the Speaker and Presidency of the Assembly, as well as the government and president.

The meeting was proposed for Friday at 4 p.m. at the Prime Minister’s Office. Kurti also said he was willing to travel to Gjakova in the evening to meet with Gjini.

However, the invitation was not accepted by the Alliance leader. Gjini argued that his and his party’s positions on the constitution of the Assembly and the election of the president had been clearly expressed more than once, and therefore he did not consider a meeting on these issues necessary.

In his response, he said that although democracy requires cooperation, the political course pursued by Kurti was “wrong and harmful to Kosovo.” According to Gjini, the message could be part of an effort to compile invitations to meetings and then create room for the opposition to be blamed for a lack of cooperation.

In his letter to Ardian Gjini, Kurti congratulated the Alliance’s group of lawmakers on taking their oath the previous day, wishing them to represent citizens with dignity, respect the Constitution and the law, and protect the public interest and human rights.

The leader of Vetëvendosje wished them success in their parliamentary commitments and an easier overcoming of political challenges. He assured them that they could rely on continued communication and collegial cooperation for the good of the Republic of Kosovo and its citizens.

According to Kurti, establishing the institutions of the 11th legislature requires interaction and coordination from all sides. He described political pluralism in a democracy as competition accompanied by cooperation and, on this basis, proposed a meeting at 4 p.m. at the Prime Minister’s Office, while also leaving open the possibility of traveling to Gjakova himself in the evening.

At the end of the letter, Kurti expressed hope that he would receive a positive response and extended his regards to Gjini.

For his part, Ardian Gjini responded to Kurti that the Alliance’s views and his personal positions on the constitution of the Assembly and the election of the president had been made public several times.

Gjini said he was convinced that Kurti was aware of these positions and, for that reason, saw no reason to hold a meeting on the matter.

He added that he agreed with the principle that democracy requires cooperation, but remained deeply convinced that the course chosen by Kurti was wrong and harmful to Kosovo. Gjini expressed hope that the leader of Vetëvendosje would also understand this.

Finally, the Alliance leader explained that he interpreted the message as an attempt to accumulate invitations to meetings and later use the situation to make accusations concerning a lack of cooperation.

Albin Kurti, kryetar i Lëvizjes Vetëvendosje, i është drejtuar me një letër kreut të Aleancës, Ardian Gjini, për ta ftuar në një takim lidhur me krijimin e institucioneve të legjislaturës së 11-të.

Kurti uroi deputetët e Aleancës pas dhënies së betimit, ndërsa nënvizoi se për zgjedhjen e Kryetarit dhe të Kryesisë së Kuvendit, si dhe të Qeverisë e Presidentit, nevojitet koordinim mes subjekteve politike.

Takimi u propozua të zhvillohej të premten, në orën 16:00, në Zyrën e Kryeministrit. Kurti bëri të ditur gjithashtu se ishte i gatshëm të udhëtonte në mbrëmje drejt Gjakovës për t’u takuar me Gjinin.

Ftesa, megjithatë, nuk u pranua nga kryetari i Aleancës. Gjini argumentoi se qëndrimet e tij dhe të partisë për konstituimin e Kuvendit dhe zgjedhjen e Presidentit janë shprehur qartë më shumë se një herë, ndaj nuk e konsideron të nevojshëm një takim për këto tema.

Në përgjigje, ai deklaroi se, ndonëse demokracia kërkon bashkëpunim, rruga politike e ndjekur nga Kurti është “e gabuar dhe e dëmshme për Kosovën”. Sipas Gjinit, mesazhi mund të jetë pjesë e një përpjekjeje për të renditur ftesat për takime dhe për të krijuar më pas hapësirë që opozita të fajësohet për mungesë bashkëpunimi.

Në letrën drejtuar Ardian Gjinit, Kurti e uroi grupin e deputetëve të Aleancës për betimin e dhënë një ditë më parë, duke u dëshiruar përfaqësim dinjitoz të qytetarëve, respektim të kushtetutshmërisë dhe ligjshmërisë, mbrojtje të interesit publik dhe të drejtave të njeriut.

Kreu i Vetëvendosjes u dëshiroi atyre mbarësi në angazhimet parlamentare dhe tejkalim sa më të lehtë të sfidave politike. Ai i siguroi se mund të mbështeten në komunikim të vazhdueshëm dhe bashkëpunim kolegial për të mirën e Republikës së Kosovës dhe të qytetarëve të saj.

Sipas Kurtit, ngritja e institucioneve të legjislaturës së 11-të kërkon bashkëveprim dhe bashkërendim nga të gjitha palët. Ai e përshkroi pluralizmin politik në demokraci si konkurrencë të shoqëruar me bashkëpunim dhe, mbi këtë bazë, propozoi takimin në orën 16:00 në Zyrën e Kryeministrit, duke lënë të hapur edhe mundësinë që në mbrëmje të shkonte vetë në Gjakovë.

Në përmbyllje të letrës, Kurti shprehu shpresën se do të merrte përgjigje pozitive dhe e përshëndeti Gjinin me nderime.

Nga ana tjetër, Ardian Gjini iu përgjigj Kurtit se pikëpamjet e Aleancës dhe qëndrimet e tij personale për konstituimin e Kuvendit dhe zgjedhjen e Presidentit janë bërë publike disa herë.

Gjini tha se është i bindur që Kurti i njeh këto qëndrime dhe, për këtë arsye, nuk sheh ndonjë arsye për zhvillimin e një takimi mbi këtë çështje.

Ai shtoi se pajtohet me parimin se demokracia kërkon bashkëpunim, por mbetet thellësisht i bindur se drejtimi i zgjedhur nga Kurti është i gabuar dhe i sjell dëm Kosovës. Gjini shprehu shpresën që këtë ta kuptojë edhe vetë kreu i Vetëvendosjes.

Në fund, kryetari i Aleancës sqaroi se mesazhin e interpreton si tendencë për të grumbulluar ftesa për takime dhe për ta shfrytëzuar më pas situatën për akuza rreth mosbashkëpunimit.

In a statement to the media, Kurti said that the meeting with Gjini is important.

“LVV is the winner of the elections; even if we will not be together in government, we will undoubtedly be together in the institutions. I do not believe it is right for a respected party such as AAK to refuse a meeting with me as prime minister and leader of the winning party,” Kurti said.

It is worth recalling that the meeting between Kurti and Hamza has already concluded, but it did not produce any political agreement.

Në një prononcim për media, Kurti u shpreh se takimi me Gjinin ka rëndësi.

“LVV është fituese e zgjedhjeve, ne edhe nëse nuk do të jemi bashkë në qeveri, padyshim se do të jemi bashkë në institucione. Nuk besoj që është në rregull që një parti e respektuar siç është AAK-ja të refuzojë takimin me mua si kryeministër dhe kryetar i partisë fituese”, tha Kurti.

Kujtojmë se takimi mes Kurtit dhe Hamzës tashmë ka përfunduar, por ai nuk solli ndonjë marrëveshje politike.

Through a post on his Facebook profile, Gjini underlined how important respect and care for Kosovo’s history are, as well as for those who contributed to the country’s freedom.

The Alliance always stands in support of the values of the liberation war,” Gjini wrote on Facebook.

During the discussion, the parties underlined that economic development is essential to Kosovo’s future. In a Facebook post, he announced that the meeting included extensive discussion of the electoral process, as well as the result achieved by the Alliance.

Gjini said that the next steps in organizing the structures and further strengthening the Alliance were also at the center of the discussion.

According to him, the Alliance entered the race with a high-quality list of candidates and a program that, he said, was appreciated by citizens, bringing an increase in the overall vote.

“This trust from the citizens is a responsibility and a strong incentive to move forward, with more work and dedication in the service of the country,” Gjini wrote on Facebook.
