Publicist Gëzim Mekuli has reacted to the latest situation in northern Kosovo, following authorities’ announcement that they had discovered an arsenal including weapons, ammunition and military equipment.

In a Facebook post, Mekuli linked the discovery of the weapons to the finding of the remains of Albanian victims. He criticized Kosovo’s opposition, accusing it of lacking a united position on the country’s security and sovereignty.

He recalled that remains, bullets, weapons and military equipment had been discovered in the north, and also mentioned the 23 Albanians who were killed. According to him, these developments cannot remain merely part of political confrontations.

In his post, Mekuli wrote that northern Kosovo is simultaneously facing the discovery of the remains of Albanians and the uncovering of ammunition and weapons belonging to Belgrade, while accusing the opposition of once again blocking Kosovo.

He stressed that the remains, bullets, weapons and military equipment of the Serbian army are being found in the north. Mekuli mentioned the 23 Albanians who were executed simply because they were Albanian, emphasizing that they were not killed because of their affiliation with any party, religion or organization.

According to him, the 23 lives taken by Vučić’s Serbia are not a figure for television debates, but represent Albanian graves, people and a part of the history of Albanian Kosovo.

Mekuli said that, at a time when Kosovo’s institutions have discovered a Belgrade weapons arsenal in the north, part of the opposition is showing neither the political will nor the intellectual, ethical or moral courage to declare that Kosovo’s security and sovereignty must stand above party and personal conflicts.

He asked the opposition why it was remaining silent at a moment when, in his view, all of Kosovo is experiencing concern and pain.

Mekuli also raised questions about why every action by Kurti against Serbian terrorist structures in the north is immediately attacked, while criticism fades when weapons linked to Serbia are discovered.

Another question, which he described as the most serious, concerns those who sought to divide blood-soaked Kosovo, the people who sponsored the idea of partition, and why, in his view, the opposition finds it difficult to acknowledge its moral, ethical and political bankruptcy.

The publicist emphasized that the opposition is not obliged to support Kurti, but must place its love for Kosovo above its opposition to him.

He warned that if this is not understood now, when Serbian weapons are discovered near mass graves, then the issue is no longer limited to politics alone.

According to Mekuli, this concerns a lack of responsibility toward the state, while Albanians, as he put it, love the state, Kosovo and Albania.

In conclusion, he called for immediate unity, saying that millions of Albanians are waiting for it.

Në postimin e tij, Mekuli shkruan se veriu i Kosovës po përballet njëkohësisht me gjetjen e eshtrave të shqiptarëve dhe me zbulimin e municionit e armatimit të Beogradit, ndërsa opozitën e akuzon se po e bllokon sërish Kosovën.

Ai thekson se në veri po gjenden eshtra, fishekë, armë dhe pajisje ushtarake të ushtrisë së Serbisë. Mekuli përmend 23 shqiptarët e pushkatuar vetëm pse ishin shqiptarë, duke nënvizuar se ata nuk u vranë për shkak të përkatësisë në ndonjë parti, fe apo organizatë.

Sipas tij, 23 jetët e marra nga Serbia e Vuçiqit nuk janë një shifër për diskutime televizive, por përfaqësojnë varreza shqiptarësh, njerëz dhe një pjesë të historisë së Kosovës shqiptare.

Mekuli shprehet se, në një kohë kur institucionet e Kosovës kanë zbuluar një arsenal armësh të Beogradit në veri, një pjesë e opozitës nuk po tregon as vullnet politik, as guxim intelektual, etik apo moral për të deklaruar se siguria dhe sovraniteti i Kosovës duhet të qëndrojnë mbi konfliktet partiake dhe personale.

Ai e pyet opozitën se përse po hesht në një moment kur, sipas tij, e gjithë Kosova po përjeton shqetësim dhe dhimbje.

Gjithashtu, Mekuli ngre pikëpyetje për arsyen pse çdo veprim i Kurtit kundër strukturave terroriste serbe në veri sulmohet menjëherë, ndërsa kritikat zbehen kur zbulohen armë të lidhura me Serbinë.

Një tjetër pyetje që ai e cilëson si më të rëndën lidhet me ata që synuan ta ndanin Kosovën e larë në gjak, me personat që sponsorizuan idenë e ndarjes dhe me arsyen pse opozita e ka të vështirë të pranojë, sipas tij, falimentimin moral, etik dhe politik.

Publicisti nënvizon se opozita nuk është e detyruar ta mbështesë Kurtin, por duhet ta vendosë dashurinë për Kosovën mbi kundërshtinë ndaj tij.

Ai paralajmëron se, nëse kjo nuk kuptohet tani, kur armët e Serbisë zbulohen pranë varrezave masive, atëherë çështja nuk kufizohet më vetëm te politika.

Sipas Mekulit, bëhet fjalë për mungesë përgjegjësie ndaj shtetit, ndërsa shqiptarët, siç shprehet ai, e duan shtetin, Kosovën dhe Shqipërinë.

Në përfundim, ai kërkon unitet të menjëhershëm, duke thënë se miliona shqiptarë janë duke e pritur atë.
