Citizens of the Hekurudha neighborhood themselves raised the alarm, sharing pictures of the forest on social media where a dense plume of smoke was clearly visible.

Forces from the Skopje Fire Brigade immediately arrived on the scene to bring the situation under control.

There is still no official data on the causes that led to the outbreak of the flames.
