Family members of Jetlira Foniqi, the 25-year-old woman suspected of having been killed by her husband in Kërvasari, Malisheva, were informed of the incident after 2:00 a.m.

Flamur Foniqi, the victim’s cousin, told KosovaPress that the family is convinced the young woman was killed.

He said the family is awaiting the final report from the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Pristina, while calling for the case to be handled with full justice.

“The deceased was my cousin, while we received news of this tragic incident today after 2:00 a.m. Based on the information we received in the morning, we as a family know and strongly believe that our daughter was killed. We believe a murder took place, and that is our position, while we are awaiting the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Pristina for the other findings. We are in pain because our daughter was killed, and from here we call for full justice to be served,” he told KosovaPress.

The Kosovo Police announced that the 25-year-old woman, who was in the 34th week of pregnancy, died after suffering a gunshot wound.

According to police data, the 25-year-old victim and her 26-year-old husband were found injured in the bedroom. Egzon Bytyqi, 26, is being treated as a suspect in the case.

Vlera Krasniqi, the Kosovo Police spokesperson for the Gjakova region, told KosovaPress that the incident was reported on August 23, 2026, at around 11:20 p.m.

Both injured individuals were initially given first aid before being taken to the University Clinical Center of Kosovo for treatment.

At the scene, police found and seized a firearm suspected of having been used in the incident.

Police were notified by the University Clinical Center of Kosovo at around 1:10 a.m. that the 25-year-old woman had died as a result of her injuries.

Familjarët e Jetlira Foniqit, 25-vjeçares që dyshohet se është vrarë nga bashkëshorti i saj në Kërvasari të Malishevës, njoftimin për rastin e kanë marrë pas orës 02:00 të mesnatës.

Flamur Foniqi, djali i axhës së viktimës, deklaroi për KosovaPress se familja është e bindur se e reja është privuar nga jeta përmes vrasjes.

Ai tha se familja po pret raportin përfundimtar të Institutit të Mjekësisë Ligjore në Prishtinë, duke kërkuar që rasti të trajtohet me drejtësi të plotë.

“E ndjera është vajza e axhës, ndërsa lajmin për këtë rast tragjik e kemi marrë sot pas orës 02:00 të mesnatës. Nga informacionet që kemi marrë në mëngjes, ne si familje dimë dhe besojmë fuqishëm se bija jonë është privuar nga jeta. Mendojmë se ka ndodhur një vrasje dhe ky është qëndrimi ynë, ndërsa për konstatimet e tjera presim Institutin e Mjekësisë Ligjore në Prishtinë. Jemi në dhimbje, sepse bija jonë është privuar nga jeta, dhe nga këtu kërkojmë që të vendoset drejtësia e plotë”, tha ai për KosovaPress.

Policia e Kosovës ka bërë të ditur se 25-vjeçarja, e cila ishte në javën e 34-t të shtatzënisë, humbi jetën pasi u plagos me armë zjarri.

Sipas të dhënave policore, në dhomën e gjumit janë gjetur të lënduar viktima 25-vjeçare dhe bashkëshorti i saj 26-vjeçar. Si i dyshuar për rastin po trajtohet Egzon Bytyqi, 26 vjeç.

Zëdhënësja e Policisë për rajonin e Gjakovës, Vlera Krasniqi, i ka deklaruar KosovaPress-it se ngjarja është raportuar më 23 gusht 2026, rreth orës 23:20.

Të dy të plagosurve u është dhënë fillimisht ndihma e parë mjekësore, përpara se të dërgoheshin për trajtim në Qendrën Klinike Universitare të Kosovës.

Në vendin e ngjarjes, Policia ka gjetur dhe ka sekuestruar një armë zjarri, që dyshohet se është përdorur gjatë rastit.

Policia është njoftuar nga QKUK-ja rreth orës 01:10 se 25-vjeçarja kishte vdekur si rezultat i plagëve të pësuara.
