According to the same statement, the person suspected of starting the fire has been identified and placed under arrest.

Under the direction of the National Civil Protection Agency and the Ministry of Defense, the operation to extinguish the fire in support of the Municipality of Lezhë is continuing without interruption.

Throughout the night, efforts were focused on isolating the flames, with 7 fire engines deployed from the Lezhë, Vau i Dejës, Shkodër, Mirditë and Shëngjin Port fire services.

Also involved on the ground were Armed Forces personnel and water tankers, Forestry Service employees, workers from the Public Services of the Municipality of Lezhë, as well as Civil Emergency structures of the Municipality of Lezhë.

The operation is also being supported from the air through an Armed Forces helicopter. Thanks to the coordination of all structures, the intensity of the fire has decreased significantly, while work continues to isolate and fully extinguish the hotspots that remain active.

The competent authorities have made it possible to identify the suspected perpetrator of the arson and bring him before legal responsibility.

The Ministry of Defense and the National Civil Protection Agency are calling on citizens to show maximum responsibility, implement fire prevention measures, and immediately notify the authorities in any case of fire or suspicion.
