Two fires broke out around midday at the entrance to and exit from Peqin, near the Rrogozhinë–Peqin–Elbasan national road.

Fanned by the wind, the flames spread rapidly through the vegetation along the national road, causing concern among residents and drivers traveling along this stretch.

Footage filmed at the scene shows the intensity of the fire. Immediate intervention by firefighting forces is needed to bring the situation under control and prevent the fires from spreading.

The new fires broke out after a difficult week for the Peqin Municipality, where fires have significantly damaged olive groves, orchards and vineyards. In several villages in the area, the flames have engulfed dozens of hectares of land.

The return of the fires has increased concern among residents and farmers, while emergency services are monitoring developments on the ground.
