The Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation (MINTI) says it has advanced measures to monitor the market and guarantee consumer rights during 2026.

In the first half of 2026, the Central Market Surveillance Inspectorate (IQMT) carried out more than 3,000 inspections across various sectors. The inspections covered the petroleum products market, general product safety, market surveillance and consumer protection.

Meanwhile, more than 250 additional inspections were conducted to verify whether economic operators meet minimum technical requirements.

According to the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, fines of approximately €600,000 were imposed for violations identified during these inspections.

The penalties relate to discrepancies between shelf and checkout prices, the sale of products without declarations, conducting business without registration with the Kosovo Business Registration Agency (ARBK), the use of measuring instruments with expired validity periods, failure to comply with deadlines set in inspection reports, the sale of expired products and placing products on the market that do not comply with legislation in force.

To increase transparency and provide citizens with faster services, MINTI has also made available a Viber platform for submitting consumer complaints, at +383 (46) 311-000.

As part of inter-institutional coordination, the Consumer Protection Council has also been made operational.

By July, four meetings had been held with representatives of relevant institutions, during which the main issues and problems faced by consumers in the country were reviewed.

Administrative measures will continue to be imposed on pedestrians who violate traffic rules. The Fier Traffic Police urge citizens to be more careful and to cross the road only on overpasses or designated crossings.

According to IKMT’s statement, the institution also ordered the immediate suspension of the company’s activity until the required legal documentation is completed.

The company was tasked with correcting the violations found and eliminating their consequences.

IKMT’s statement:

“Illegal interventions in the bed of the Valbona River, IKMT fines and suspends the company. The National Inspectorate for the Protection of Territory verified on the ground reports of illegal activity being carried out in the bed of the Valbona River.

During the inspection carried out, it was found that the company Sh.Mulosmani was extracting aggregate materials from the riverbed in violation of legal provisions.

Due to the violations found, IKMT imposed an administrative measure consisting of a fine of 2,000,000 lekë and the suspension of activity until the relevant permit is obtained in accordance with the legislation in force. The company was tasked with correcting the violations found and eliminating their consequences,” IKMT announced.
