The Democratic League of Kosovo will hold its Extraordinary Assembly today, after the procedures set out in its statute were completed and the signatures of the delegates who requested that it be convened were verified.

The party announced that the request had secured the statutory support required from at least one-third of the delegates, thus allowing the meeting to be held.

The LDK Extraordinary Assembly is scheduled to begin at 18:00.

The meeting is taking place as the LDK faces internal tensions. A group of delegates has called for the removal of party leader Lumir Abdixhiku, arguing that the party must take political responsibility for the result of the June 7 parliamentary elections.

In its official statement, the LDK said that all actions had been taken in accordance with the party’s statute. It also stressed that the Assembly would be organized on the basis of internal democracy, transparency, and respect for the will of the delegates.

The Extraordinary Assembly is expected to be one of the most important political events within the LDK this year. Delegates will review the situation in the party and decide what steps to take next, while it remains to be seen whether Abdixhiku’s removal will be put to a vote or whether he will continue to lead the LDK.

The Democratic League of Kosovo has announced that its chairman has decided to convene an Extraordinary Assembly after it was confirmed that the statutory requirement of signatures from at least one-third of the delegates had been met.

The submitted signatures were reviewed by the General Secretariat, which, following verification, determined that the requirements set out in the Statute for organizing the Assembly had been met.

The Extraordinary Assembly has been scheduled for Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 18:00. Delegates will be informed of the venue and other organizational details in accordance with statutory procedures. The LDK stated that the entire process will be guided by the Statute, democratic principles and institutional transparency.

LDK CHAIRMAN CONVENES EXTRAORDINARY ASSEMBLY OF THE DEMOCRATIC LEAGUE OF KOSOVO

The Democratic League of Kosovo informs the public and its members that the LDK chairman, in exercising the responsibilities and powers granted to him by the party Statute, has decided to convene the Extraordinary Assembly of the Democratic League of Kosovo. The decision was made after the statutory procedures for verifying the request submitted by Assembly delegates were completed.

To ensure the legality, regularity and integrity of the process, the LDK General Secretariat reviewed all submitted signatures, acting in accordance with the statutory provisions.

Upon completion of the verification, it was confirmed that the threshold stipulated in the Statute had been reached, namely the support of at least one-third (1/3) of the Assembly delegates, as required to convene the Extraordinary Assembly.

Immediately after the verification process was completed and in fulfillment of the statutory obligations, the LDK chairman determined that the Extraordinary Assembly would be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, beginning at 18:00.

Information about the venue where the Assembly will be held, along with other organizational details, will be sent to delegates in accordance with the procedures provided for in the Statute.

The Democratic League of Kosovo reiterates its commitment to ensuring that the process is conducted in full compliance with the party Statute, while respecting democratic principles, institutional transparency and the will of the Assembly delegates.
