Students and activists protested on the premises of QSUT in Tirana as Prime Minister Edi Rama arrived to inaugurate the new cardiac surgery service.

The protesters voiced their opposition to the prime minister by chanting, “Arrest Rama.”

Police are said to have intervened and, according to preliminary information, one activist and one student were taken to the police station following the protest.

The elected members of the 11th legislature of the Kosovo Assembly have convened for the Assembly’s constitutive session.

They initially voted to establish a temporary committee to verify the mandates.

The agenda includes the swearing-in of MPs and the election of the Assembly speaker and deputy speakers.

The constitution of the Assembly marks the start of the 60-day deadline for electing the president, which remains the main point of disagreement between the Vetëvendosje Movement and the Democratic League of Kosovo.

The 15-day deadline for voting on the government begins only after the acting president gives the mandate to the candidate proposed by the parliamentary majority.
