During an interview on Tuesday on the show “Now” with Erla Mëhilli, the leader of the Opportunity Party, Agron Shehaj, reacted sharply to the recent statement by Prime Minister Edi Rama. Rama had accused Shehaj of taking a document from the Parliament of Albania, but for the head of the Opportunity Party, this accusation is unacceptable due to the circumstances weighing on the government.

“He dares to mention the word theft. When you have two deputy prime ministers under investigation by SPAK, this is unbelievable. Erion Veliaj has been in jail for two years, suspected of stealing Albanians’ funds. And these are not accusations from the media or the opposition, but from the very justice system that he has built and supported. Now he is trying to escape prison and calls me a thief, because I defended a right. This is the greatest paradox of this country,” Shehaj stated.
