Deputy Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo Emilija Rexhepi, together with Ambassador Skënder Durmishi, is taking part in an interparliamentary conference being held in Tirana on the topic “The strategic agenda for EU enlargement and Albania’s membership.” Representatives of the parliaments of European Union member states, candidate and potential candidate countries for membership, as well as representatives of the European Parliament and other European institutions, are attending the event.

The meeting has been conceived as a strategic forum to address the future of the EU enlargement process, exchange views among parliaments and deepen cooperation between them. Another aim of the conference is to underline enlargement as an important factor in Europe’s democratic transformation, stability and unity.

The discussion agenda includes three key issues: Albania’s path toward membership in the European Union; enlargement as a merit-based process and an instrument for strengthening stability and security; and the contribution of parliaments to the progress of EU enlargement.

According to a statement from the Assembly of Kosovo, Deputy Speaker Emilija Rexhepi’s participation in the conference creates opportunities to share parliamentary experiences, advance interparliamentary dialogue and address issues related to the European perspective of Kosovo and the Western Balkans.

Nënkryetarja e Kuvendit të Republikës së Kosovës, Emilija Rexhepi, së bashku me ambasadorin Skënder Durmishi, po merr pjesë në konferencën ndërparlamentare që po zhvillohet në Tiranë me temën “Agjenda Strategjike për Zgjerimin e BE-së dhe Anëtarësimi i Shqipërisë”. Në këtë aktivitet janë të pranishëm përfaqësues të parlamenteve të shteteve anëtare të Bashkimit Evropian, të vendeve kandidate dhe potenciale kandidate për anëtarësim, si edhe përfaqësues të Parlamentit Evropian dhe institucioneve të tjera evropiane.

Takimi është konceptuar si një forum strategjik për të trajtuar të ardhmen e procesit të zgjerimit të BE-së, për të shkëmbyer qëndrime mes parlamenteve dhe për të thelluar bashkëpunimin ndërmjet tyre. Një tjetër synim i konferencës është nënvizimi i zgjerimit si një faktor i rëndësishëm për transformimin demokratik, stabilitetin dhe unitetin e Evropës.

Axhenda e diskutimeve përfshin tri çështje kryesore: rrugëtimin e Shqipërisë drejt anëtarësimit në Bashkimin Evropian; zgjerimin si një proces të mbështetur te meritat dhe si instrument për forcimin e stabilitetit e sigurisë; si dhe kontributin e parlamenteve në ecurinë e zgjerimit të BE-së.

Sipas njoftimit të Kuvendit të Kosovës, prania e nënkryetares Emilija Rexhepi në këtë konferencë krijon mundësi për ndarjen e përvojave parlamentare, avancimin e dialogut ndërparlamentar dhe trajtimin e çështjeve që lidhen me perspektivën evropiane të Kosovës dhe të Ballkanit Perëndimor.
