Two young men, 24-year-old Edison Korra and 23-year-old Orest Balla, have been arrested in Tirana after allegedly attempting to defraud FSHF President Armand Duka of €100,000.

According to information made public, the young men contacted Duka, posing as Taulant Balla, and requested the sum in cryptocurrency.

Duka suspected the fraud scheme and notified the police, who then intervened to document the case.

Sources from the investigative team said that the person from whom the €100,000 was requested was FSHF head Armand Duka.

The two arrested men presented themselves on the Signal app as Taulant Balla. The money was initially requested in cryptocurrency, but it was later agreed that it would be handed over in euros.

The same sources explained that the money was handed over by undercover agents and that the arrests were made in the act. The handover took place in Elbasan, where the two suspects lived.

Duka himself reported the case to the police after suspecting that he had fallen victim to fraud. The message he received on his phone from the two arrested men said that, while posing as Taulant Balla, Duka should send the money to the address provided by the two young men, who claimed to be acquaintances of Balla.

Following their arrest, they refused to provide the police with detailed statements about who was behind them, while the main suspicions point to Florian Gjergji.

Meanwhile, during their communication, Duka told them, “Get in touch with my son because I don’t understand these things about cryptocurrency.”

One of the police agents then contacted the two arrested men by phone, posing as Duka’s son. The undercover agent told the two perpetrators that he did not have the money in cryptocurrency but would bring it in cash.

Two citizens who defrauded a 64-year-old man through a fake profile using the credentials of someone he knew, in an attempt to obtain €100,000 from him, were arrested in flagrante delicto while receiving the money.

Specialists from the Economic and Financial Crime Investigation Section, in cooperation with the Special “Operational” Force, immediately processed a complaint filed by a 64-year-old man over suspected fraud on an online communication platform. As a result, they concluded the operation codenamed “Seen,” during which citizens Edison Korra, 24, and Orest Balla, 23, were caught in flagrante delicto while receiving €100,000 from the complainant and were taken into custody.

Based on investigations conducted using special methods, aimed at fully establishing the identity of those responsible and the circumstances of the case, these citizens are suspected of having communicated with the 64-year-old through a fake social media profile.

The profile had been activated using the details of someone known to the 64-year-old, with the aim of defrauding him.

Investigations are continuing to identify and bring before the law any other individuals who may have been involved in the case.

The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecution Office for further action.
