In public, they talk about integration and European standards, but when they need to explain what happened to more than €9 million of European taxpayers’ money, they choose to say nothing. This is how DUI governed for more than two decades. They constantly spoke of Europe, but when it came to European funds, they forgot both the values and the standards. The most shameful part of this scandal is that it concerns Zajas, Ali Ahmeti’s birthplace. If this is how they took care of Zajas, one can imagine how they took care of other Albanian-populated settlements,” Sulejmani said.

Driton Sulejmani nga VLEN, zëvendësministër i Arsimit dhe Shkencës, ka kritikuar BDI-në për mungesën e reagimit rreth projektit të parealizuar të kanalizimit në Zajas, për të cilin Bashkimi Europian ka financuar mbi 9 milionë euro.

Sipas tij, megjithëse mjetet financiare janë ndarë dhe afatet e zbatimit kanë kaluar, qytetarët e zonës ende nuk kanë kanalizim. Sulejmani ka drejtuar akuza ndaj ish-drejtuesve për mungesë të përgjegjësisë.

Ai vlerëson se mosreagimi i tyre i shton dyshimet se ka pasur keqpërdorime edhe me fondet europiane.

“Fakti që heshtin vetëm sa i rrit dyshimet se duart i kanë futur deri në bërryla edhe në Fondet Europiane. Para publikut flasin për integrime dhe standarde europiane, ndërsa kur duhet të sqarojnë çfarë ka ndodhur me më shumë se 9 milionë euro të taksapaguesve europianë, vendosin të mos thonë asgjë. Kështu ka qeverisur BDI-ja për më shumë se dy dekada. Europën e kanë pasur vazhdimisht në gojë, por kur bëhej fjalë për fondet europiane, harronin si vlerat ashtu edhe standardet. Pjesa më e turpshme e këtij skandali është se bëhet fjalë për Zajazin, vendlindjen e Ali Ahmetit. Nëse në këtë mënyrë janë kujdesur për Zajazin, mund të imagjinohet se si janë kujdesur për vendbanimet e tjera të banuara me shqiptarë”, tha Sulejmani.
