The Special Prosecution argued that it needs until October to complete several additional investigative procedures. According to SPAK, it is essential to carry out several technical checks, including forensic examinations of telephone devices and an analysis of fingerprint overlaps.

Lawyer Erjon Kullolli, who represents Fation Bushgjokaj, openly opposed the request. He said that the prosecuting authority had had every concrete opportunity to carry out these investigative steps earlier, but had failed to do so. The legal representative added that, at this stage of the proceedings, SPAK has not managed to prove that the charge of “Kidnapping” was committed within the framework of a structured criminal group with special cooperation.

Furthermore, Bushgjokaj’s defence lawyer pointed out that the prosecution’s request contradicts a ruling by the United Chambers of the Supreme Court. He stressed that SPAK has not provided convincing arguments or reasons as to why the security measure of “detention in prison” is considered the most appropriate for the situation.

As for Petrit Çakri, his court-appointed lawyer did not present a firm position, leaving it to the court to assess whether an extension of the investigation was necessary.

All four people in custody are accused of murdering Renis Dobra, a crime that took place in July 2025. During the previous two court hearings, tensions in the Special Court courtroom escalated into physical confrontations. The three brothers clashed with the other defendant, Petrit Çakri, immediately after he implicated them in Dobra’s murder.
