A makeshift knife has been found inside Fier prison, a weapon suspected of having been prepared to kill Denis Bajri, also known as Brajovic. The first details were revealed by journalist Klodiana Lala, shedding light on the failed assassination plot.

In his testimony to investigating officers, Bajri directly accused Ibrahim Lici, his longtime enemy who has been listed as a wanted fugitive for some time. According to Bajri, it was Lici who ordered the attack on him inside his cell. He explained that suspect Jurgen Zotaj was the person who attempted to stab him with the makeshift weapon, acting on Lici’s orders.

Bajri gave a detailed account of the events that day, saying that Aldo Gjini initially expressed a desire to meet him. “Aldo Gjini contacted me to arrange a meeting. He arrived at the cell where I was being held accompanied by Jurgen Zoto,” he said. According to Bajri, Zoto then handed him a mobile phone, with Ibrahim Lici himself on the line. “Lici told me that my life was over. At that very moment, Zoto lunged at me with the knife,” Bajri concluded in his account to investigators.

Prisoner Denis Bajri, alias Brajovic, has accused his sworn rival, the highly wanted Ibrahim Lici, of ordering the attack against him inside his cell at Fier Prison.

Journalist Klodiana Lala reports that, in his testimony, Bajri said Aldo Gjini had asked to meet him and had appeared in his cell together with Jurgen Zotaj.

According to Bajri, during the meeting, Zotaj handed him a telephone connected to Ibrahim Liçi. The latter, according to Bajri’s testimony, issued a direct threat against him.

“That’s the end of your life,” Liçi is said to have told him over the phone, according to Bajri. Bajri further claims that, at that moment, Jurgen Zotaj attempted to attack him with a homemade knife.

“Aldo Gjini asked to meet me. He came to my cell together with Jurgen Zotaj. Zotaj handed me a telephone; Ibrahim Liçi was on the line. Liçi told me over the phone: ‘That’s the end of your life.’ At that moment, Zotaj attempted to attack me with a knife,” he testified.

During the struggle, Bajri and Zoto were injured and transported for medical assistance. Following the incident, the Disciplinary Commission at the General Directorate of Prisons decided to dismiss eight police officers and refer them to the Prosecutor’s Office for abuse of office.

The Service for Internal Affairs and Complaints in Prisons is investigating to determine the responsibility of the police officers who allowed inmates and pretrial detainees to move from one building to another, as well as the fact that they had a telephone, an item strictly prohibited in cells.

The Disciplinary Commission ordered three months of isolation for Gjini and Zotaj. Aldo Gjini was transferred to Drenovë, while Zoto was transferred to Burrel Prison.

Gjatë përleshjes, Bajri dhe Zoto mbetën të plagosur dhe u transportuan për ndihmë mjekësore. Pas ngjarjes, Komisioni i Disiplinës në Drejtorinë e Përgjithshme të Burgjeve vendosi të përjashtojë 8 efektivë të policisë dhe t’i referojë në Prokurori për shpërdorim detyre.
