Democratic League of Kosovo MP Anton Quni voiced his support for Bekim Sejdiu’s candidacy for president of Kosovo, shortly before the start of a meeting of the LDK Parliamentary Group.

Quni said he knows the Sejdiu family well and praised its legacy, describing it as a family of great familial and individual standing.

He expressed his conviction that Sejdiu’s candidacy would make the entire nation of Kosovo proud.

“I have supported Bekim Sejdiu’s candidacy for the next president. I know him well. Several men from this family took part in various battles for the liberation of Kosovo. Through him, I have also formed my own impression of the Sejdiu family. In this case, I had no doubts whatsoever, as this family carries a powerful familial and individual legacy. I am more than convinced that he will make the entire nation of Kosovo proud,” Quni declared.

Meanwhile, after a series of meetings, LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku and LVV leader Albin Kurti reached an agreement yesterday on a consensus candidate for president.

Armend Zemaj, an MP from the Democratic League of Kosovo, has leveled a series of criticisms at the management of the healthcare sector.

According to him, due to a shortage of medicines used in treatment, hundreds of cancer patients are being forced to buy them themselves. Zemaj emphasized that this is happening even though millions of euros have been allocated for the supply of medicines through tenders.

“We have consistently emphasized that there is more money available, but there is a major monopoly that generates huge profits for several pharmaceutical companies linked to those in power, directly to officials at the Ministry of Health and to former subordinates in this vital sector. Meanwhile, patients have access to far fewer medicines, and this undoubtedly places a burden on their families and on the already strained finances of Kosovo’s citizens,” Zemaj wrote.

He stated that this is also one of the reasons why the majority is not interested in constituting the Assembly. According to Zemaj, it wants neither oversight of how the sector is managed nor accountability.

Armend Zemaj, an MP from the Democratic League of Kosovo, called on the Prosecutor’s Office to investigate possible legal violations and misuse of the budget by MPs who simultaneously continue to serve as acting ministers.

According to Zemaj, action should be taken against individuals who hold both positions at the same time.

“We have filed a criminal complaint, and it remains active. We have not received any response about what has happened since then. This is a recurring issue. There is also a Supreme Court ruling prohibiting the simultaneous exercise of two offices: MP and minister. We have no other answer. The Prosecutor’s Office must do its job, and investigators must determine where legal violations have occurred, where the budget has been misused, and take action against individuals who hold these two positions,” Zemaj said.

Meanwhile, LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku has called the parliamentary group to a meeting at 14:00, where the political deadlock is expected to be discussed.

Arben Gashi, an MP from the Democratic League of Kosovo, has commented on the situation that has arisen in the Assembly of Kosovo.

In a Facebook post, he said that the Assembly is edging closer to physical clashes, while efforts to keep it deadlocked continue.

Gashi said that, at this critical moment, a firm and clear position from the LDK is lacking.

“In fact, what Kosovo is missing is the LDK and the Rugovian spirit. When institutions remain deadlocked and tensions rise, the country needs more dialogue, prudence, statehood and a Republic. The time has come for the LDK to speak,” Gashi said.
