Mother Teresa University is seeking additional premises due to the increase in student numbers, while authorities have identified a temporary solution for this situation.

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for European Affairs, Bekim Sali, visited the premises of the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia together with the rector of MTU, Prof. Dr. Bekim Fetaji. These spaces are expected to be made available to the university.

According to Sali, their use will enable students to have better conditions to pursue their studies and will guarantee the regular continuation of the teaching process, until the construction of the permanent campus of MTU.

“Promises are not enough for MTU. Actions, solutions, and institutional responsibility are needed,” Sali said.

The need for this solution has become more pronounced due to the growing number of students and the lack of sufficient spaces for the normal development of teaching at the university.

The rising number of students at Mother Teresa University in Skopje has deepened the need for additional facilities, at a time when construction of the new university campus has yet to begin.

To address the situation, the university’s Rectorate has asked government institutions for assistance in renovating and adapting the buildings currently in use.

Rector Bekim Fetahu says the existing facilities do not meet the university’s needs. According to him, until the new campus is completed, a temporary solution must be secured for one of the faculties, which will be relocated to another building.

“One of the faculties must be relocated to another building for an indefinite period, until the new university campus is built,” Fetahu said.

The Rectorate estimates that the increased interest in the university and the growing number of students have made the issue of facilities even more urgent. For this reason, it is calling for intervention by the institutions to improve conditions in the existing buildings until the new campus of Mother Teresa University is built.

Construction work on the “Mit’hat Frashëri” Boulevard in Çair is expected to begin next week. The mayor of the Municipality of Çair, Izet Mexhiti, and the mayor of the City of Skopje, Orce Gjorgjievski, inspected today the section where this important road segment will be built.

The road will stretch for more than 1.4 kilometers, connecting “Xhon Kenedi” Street with the “Slovenia” and “Bosnia and Herzegovina” boulevards. The project includes the construction of four traffic lanes, sidewalks and bicycle paths, as well as the installation of stormwater drainage and new public lighting.

Mexhiti described the investment as one of the most important infrastructure projects for Çair, stressing that it will help improve traffic flow and infrastructure in the area. According to him, the sites have been determined and the conditions for starting the work have been met.

The mayor of Çair said that the projects promised to citizens are being completed one after another and that this approach will continue until all commitments have been fully fulfilled. He added that most of the projects are already in their final phase and that little time remains until their completion.

VLEN reacted today, during a press conference, to the accusations of BDI regarding the Ohrid Agreement, reports InfoShqip.com.

In its response, VLEN emphasizes that the Ohrid Agreement, reached twenty-five years ago, fundamentally changed the political and legal architecture of the state.

According to this party, historical experience shows that even the fairest agreements can be distorted during implementation, relativized, or lose their weight when political culture and morality are lacking.

VLEN assesses that the greatest challenge of the Ohrid Agreement is not related to the signatures placed on it, but to its appropriation by a single party and its transformation into a tool for political gain.

“In the name of this agreement and the sacrifice that made it possible, seat-hoarders were created, people numbed by power. In its name, millionaires appeared, family businesses were set up, and a system was built to serve a handful of people,” the response states.

VLEN underlines that the Ohrid Agreement is not a title deed of BDI, nor the property of Ali Ahmeti, nor the family inheritance of his clique, but a historical achievement of Albanians.

According to VLEN, for more than two decades BDI had extensive control over power, having ministers, deputy ministers, MPs, directors, and officials at every level of the state.

“If there had been will, today fair and adequate representation would have been guaranteed by law, while decentralization would have been completed. But neither one nor the other was done,” the response continues.

The party declares that the rights of Albanians cannot go into opposition together with BDI and that Ali Ahmeti cannot take the Ohrid Agreement with him into opposition.

“This tale no longer holds water,” VLEN states.

VLEN says that it does not recall the Ohrid Agreement only on anniversaries, but considers it an obligation to undertake concrete measures.

One of these steps, according to it, is the legal guarantee of fair and adequate representation. The adoption of this law, VLEN emphasizes, would not only constitute implementation of the agreement but also its advancement.

Likewise, VLEN links the Ohrid Agreement with genuine decentralization, which would give municipalities more powers and financial resources. According to the party, this is being realized like never before through over 1,200 projects.

Twenty-five years after the signing, VLEN assesses that the time has come for the Ohrid Agreement to regain its dignity, not only as a legal document and an agreement that ended the conflict, but also as a historical achievement of Albanians, embodied in the constitutional order and as a permanent pledge for equality.

The education system in Macedonia is facing a sharp decline in the number of students starting first grade this school year. Minister of Education and Science Vesna Janevska announced that preliminary data show about 4,900 fewer children registered compared to last September.

Janevska stressed that these statistics are not yet final, given that the registration process is ongoing. According to her, the shrinking school population is a phenomenon affecting all cycles of pre-university education. “We are observing a continuous decrease in students in both primary and secondary schools. In secondary education the drop this year has not been as sharp, but in the primary cycle the difference is quite concerning, with over 4,000 fewer students than a year ago,” she stated.

The minister explained that the third registration deadline, which takes place in August, may bring a slight correction to the figures but will not change the essence of the problem. “This is a reality also confirmed by the State Statistical Office. Even in the most optimistic scenario, where two thousand new registrations would be added, we would still have at least 3,000 fewer first-graders. We predict that this depopulation trend will continue next year, which is a grim signal for the country’s future,” Janevska added.

The latest public opinion survey, conducted during June by the Stratum R&D Institute, reconfirms that the VLEN Movement convincingly leads among the Albanian electorate.

When asked which political force they would trust with their vote if elections were held tomorrow, 34 percent of respondents expressed support for VLEN, while the Democratic Union for Integration received 30 percent of participants’ support. This is the second survey in a two-month period to rank VLEN ahead of DUI.

In an official reaction, VLEN stresses that this poll proves an undeniable truth: citizens now clearly know how to distinguish results-based politics from media noise. According to them, just two years were enough to show that Albanians are no longer prey to empty rhetoric and that trust is earned through concrete actions, not hollow promises.

They list a series of achievements that support this claim: the adoption of the Law on Fair and Adequate Representation, the Law on Gambling, the Law on the Medrese, as well as legislation on Jurisprudence and Higher Education. Also mentioned are more than 40 professional exams held in the native language, the opening of integrated one-stop shops at border crossings with Kosovo and Albania, 306 projects dedicated to Albanian municipalities, over 2,500 newly registered businesses, as well as thousands of jobs and promotions.

The statement also highlights the start of works on the Mother Teresa University Campus, the 20 million euro investment for the third phase of Skanderbeg Square, the reconstruction of Tetovo Hospital with 74 million euros, the construction of the Skopje–Blace highway and Corridor 8, as well as salary and pension increases. VLEN concludes by emphasizing that these are facts that cannot be covered up through press conferences, disinformation campaigns or media propaganda.

At 00:00 today, new fuel prices came into effect, bringing a 3 denari per liter increase for EUROSUPER BS-95 and EUROSUPER BS-98 gasoline.

After this adjustment, EUROSUPER BS-95 will be sold for 93.00 denari per liter, while EUROSUPER BS-98 will cost 95.00 denari per liter.

EURODIESEL (D-E V) has also become more expensive, with an increase of 4.50 denari per liter, reaching a new price of 98.50 denari per liter.

For households, extra light heating oil (EL-1) will see a sharper increase of 5.00 denari per liter compared to the decision of July 20, 2026, and will now be sold for 98.00 denari per liter.

As for fuel oil M-1 NS, its price has risen by 2.726 denari per kilogram, settling at a new rate of 48.099 denari per kilogram. /INA/

Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski finalized today the announced process of restructuring the executive. Parliament approved the appointment of Zulfiqar Zejnulla, leader of the Turkish Democratic Party, to the post of minister without portfolio.

This appointment came as a result of the coalition agreement between the Turkish Democratic Party and VMRO-DPMNE. Under this agreement, MP Bejxhan Iljas, who had been elected from the ranks of the European Front led by the Democratic Union for Integration (BDI), switched to the parliamentary majority camp. Now, the majority led by VMRO-DPMNE has 59 MPs, not counting the other governing coalition partners, VLEN and ZNAM.

The vote for Zejnulla was conducted separately from the appointment of other new ministers, in order to respect the constitutional rule that allows the prime minister to change no more than one-third of cabinet members without it being considered a new government. Otherwise, the procedure would be treated as the election of a different government.

Defending his proposal before lawmakers, Mickoski stressed the importance of institutions being led by responsible individuals who are committed to solving citizens’ concerns, adding that the country needs a policy that unites, not divides.

On the other hand, the opposition criticized the appointment, calling it yet another political deal and arguing that more than ethnic affiliation, what matters is the candidate’s vision and abilities to carry out the task.

According to his official biography, Zejnulla has a career in state administration and the security field. From 2021 to 2024, he served as deputy director in the Directorate for Protection and Rescue. Previously, he was a municipal councilor in Gostivar and worked in the legal department of the Turkish Democratic Party, as well as having experience in the private sector.

He graduated in Criminology from the Faculty of Security at the “St. Clement of Ohrid” University in Bitola. In addition to his native Turkish, he also speaks Macedonian, Albanian, German, and Serbian.
