Leicestershire law enforcement confirmed that the victim is called Ervin Lita, also known as Ervin Axhami.

The case was reported to emergency services around 6:58 a.m. on Sunday morning, after East Midlands Ambulance Service personnel discovered the severely injured young man on Compton Road. Despite the swift intervention of medics to save his life, the 28-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to official police information, the operation was the result of several weeks of investigative work, supported by intelligence gathered on the ground regarding the cultivation of narcotic substances both indoors and in open areas.

Those arrested are M. F., 39, who owned the house in the village of Velë, and A. M., 27, a resident of the Ishull Shëngjin area.

An inspection of the house, which had been converted into a cannabis greenhouse, uncovered a room equipped with 119 narcotic plants grown under special lamps and other supporting equipment. The entire system was supplied with electricity illegally through concealed connections.

Two other areas inside the same building were also found to be in the preparation stage for the same illegal activity. Not far from the house, officers also discovered two open plots where another 55 Cannabis Sativa plants had been planted.

During a thorough search, police seized two hunting rifles, a range of electrical equipment used for cultivation, an amount of suspected narcotic substance, a car and 18 mobile phones.

Police said that during a search of the 27-year-old’s apartment, another 16 mobile phones were found. Investigations are continuing to determine their origin and intended use.

As part of the same investigation, four employees of electricity distribution company OSHEE, including a team leader, meter readers and electricians, have been placed under criminal investigation. They face charges of “Abuse of Office” and “Passive Corruption.”

Meanwhile, efforts are continuing to identify and arrest other people suspected of having been accomplices in this criminal scheme. The full investigation file has been forwarded to the Lezhë Judicial District Prosecutor’s Office for further proceedings.

The investigation showed that the verifiable income of A.A. and his family does not match their expenditure and property purchases. In other words, the person under investigation did not have the financial capacity to cover these investments.

The forensic accounting report and the evidence collected confirm that the assets owned by the individuals under investigation are contrary to the criteria set out in Articles 11 and 24 of Law No. 10192, dated 03.12.2009. This criminal offence falls within the scope of the aforementioned law. As a result, assets have been generated that cannot be justified by legally declared earnings. Consequently, the Prosecutor’s Office at the Tirana Court of First Instance seized the following properties: a one-bedroom apartment with an area of 66.33 m², together with a 44 m² veranda, in a multifunctional complex on Xhanfize Keko Street; as well as a two-bedroom apartment with an area of 87.9 m² and a garage on level -2 with an area of 16 m², in another complex under construction on Kahreman Ylli Street.

The first case was uncovered following a report that an inflatable boat was sailing near the shore at Potami Beach. Officers from the Vlora Local Directorate for Border and Migration (DVKM) responded immediately to identify the vessel and its operator. The boat was found at Drimadhes Beach, where it was impounded, while its operator, a citizen identified by the initials H. L., was fined 500,000 lekë.

Meanwhile, during patrols along the coastline, police officers noticed another inflatable boat moving dangerously close to shore in the area known as “Hidrovor Beach”. This vessel was also stopped and confiscated, while its operator, citizen E. Sh., was fined 510,000 lekë. Checks revealed that he did not have the legally required documents on board.

In its statement, the Border Police stressed that the Vlora DVKM is engaged in inspections, checks and immediate responses to all reports from citizens, with the primary aim of ensuring maritime safety. According to the statement, the two inflatable boats were impounded and their operators were fined 500,000 and 510,000 lekë respectively, for endangering holidaymakers by sailing close to shore and, in one case, for not having the necessary documentation on board.

Police said patrols will continue throughout the maritime area of Vlora County. They urged citizens, holidaymakers and visitors to immediately report any illegal activity that threatens maritime and public safety, assuring them that intervention will be immediate and in accordance with the law.

Retired Kosovo Police Lieutenant Colonel Refki Morina described the recent incidents as a clear signal for law enforcement institutions. According to him, mitigating these phenomena starts with family and school education and necessarily requires full coordination between state and societal mechanisms, where courts and prosecution must be faster and stricter in delivering justice.

The concern is also supported by concrete statistics. In the Ferizaj region, authorities have recorded a noticeable increase in minor bodily injuries and cases of illegal weapon possession this year, compared to the first six months of last year. Faced with this situation, the Police have called on citizens to cooperate in preventing and cracking down on these criminal offenses.

Based on officially provided data, by the end of May 2026, 9 cases of murder have been recorded, including those classified as “aggravated murder.” All these episodes have been investigated and criminal charges have been filed with prosecution bodies. As part of preventive measures, during 2025 law enforcement forces seized 1,931 weapons of various categories and 39,116 rounds of ammunition of different calibers.

Lawyer Valdet Hoxha, on his part, stressed that it is time for the state to take concrete actions to uncover the causes behind these crimes. He highlighted the urgent need for security institutions to clearly identify the motives and problems, so that preventive strategies and punitive policies align and accurately address the roots of the phenomenon.
