The safety of students ahead of the start of the new school year was one of the main issues discussed by the Director General of the State Police, Skënder Hita, during meetings with police structures in Tirana, Korçë and Dibër.

Hita called on local officials to closely monitor the implementation of measures to protect the security perimeters of schools and ensure the normal conduct of the educational process.

He also called for increased checks inside and outside the security zones of educational institutions in order to identify and crack down on individuals who might involve students in criminal activities.

During the discussions, the director of the State Police also set as a priority increased efforts to crack down on criminal groups, identify individuals carrying firearms or narcotics, and arrest people wanted by the authorities.

Local and border police structures were asked to step up action against serious crimes, illegal possession of weapons, narcotics and criminal organizations. At the same time, Hita called for proactive investigations into crimes at the border and cases of trafficking.

Particular attention was also paid to improving police performance, communication with citizens and road safety. To this end, officials called for more effective use of technology to prevent accidents.

Skënder Hita stressed that strengthening public trust in the Police remains important. According to him, achieving this objective requires more work and commitment, as well as the use of human resources to address and resolve the concerns citizens submit through the co-governance platform and official channels.
