This Friday, the 90th protest against Prime Minister Edi Rama and his government is taking place. Citizens will gather in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, where for three months they have called for resignation and the opening of the way for a transitional government.

Today, protesters are also expected to gather in front of the Socialist Party headquarters at 5:30 PM, where a meeting of ministers and district leaders with Prime Minister Rama is scheduled.

“Let them take eggs with them and go to give them the next greeting, saying: ‘You don’t represent us, you don’t represent us, you don’t represent us.’ Don’t forget, tomorrow at the SP headquarters,” activist Arvina Lleshi said at the protest a day earlier, calling on citizens to gather at the pink headquarters.

At the protest held yesterday at the Prime Minister’s Office, citizens repeated their non-negotiable demands against the government. In addition to resignation, citizens also demand the arrest of Rama, Sali Berisha, and Belinda Balluku.

The leader of the Mundësia Party, Agron Shehaj, has denounced the shutdown of several pages on the social network Instagram that had been actively supporting the protest, which has continued uninterrupted for 87 days.

Shehaj says that the Albanian government is behind this campaign against pages amplifying the protest and that, according to him, it is spending thousands of euros to silence anyone with influence over the mobilization and informing of citizens.

In a video posted on social media, Shehaj speaks with one of the protesters, who explains that his page, with around 50,000 followers and nearly 50 million views in a single month, was shut down by people who had been paid to do so.

The protester claims that the person who shut down his page admitted to him that he had been paid for the intervention. He also provided screenshots of the conversation.

“Our government has paid between USD 2,000 and USD 10,000 to block our page on Instagram and silence us, so that the protest will die down,” the citizen declared.

“Imagine how much they have spent on all the other pages they have shut down,” Shehaj said.

The leader of the Mundësia Party described this as an attempt by the government to silence critical voices and weaken the protest.

“Only a corrupt autocrat whose true colors have been exposed could do this,” Shehaj declared, adding that despite these efforts, the protest would continue.

“The protest continues and will continue until Edi Rama resigns,” Shehaj concluded.

Today marks the 86th day of the revolt, with large numbers of citizens once again expected to protest tonight, as they call for the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama.

Citizens will gather at Skanderbeg Square, from where the protesters will then march toward the Prime Minister’s Office.

After arriving in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, speeches will begin, with numerous citizens expressing their concerns and dissatisfaction with the government.

The protesters’ main and non-negotiable demand is Edi Rama’s resignation. They are also calling for the creation of a transitional government with a 12-month mandate, which must prepare the country for elections.

The protesters are also demanding the repeal of several laws that they consider harmful and contrary to the interests of Albanian citizens.

The citizens have declared that they will continue protesting until their demands are met.
