She stressed that July 4 draws attention back to one of democracy’s highest principles, the will of the citizens as the source of freedom and power.

“July 4 takes us back to one of democracy’s noblest principles, the will of the people as the source of freedom and power. For us in Kosovo, this date is inseparable from friendship with the United States, which has stood by us in the most difficult and most defining moments of our history,” she said.

According to Haxhiu, she conveyed “warm congratulations” to American soldiers and citizens on the 250th anniversary of Independence, “along with gratitude for the alliance that united us in the past and continues to guide us toward the future.”
