In an official statement, Mexhiti said the conversation was marked by a friendly atmosphere and an open dialogue on issues of shared importance.

“I had the pleasure of receiving Austrian Ambassador Mr Martin Pammer in my office today. We had a meaningful exchange of ideas on the current situation and the opportunities to further deepen our relations in sectors of mutual interest. Austria continues to be a valued ally and a strong supporter on our journey toward Europe,” Mexhiti wrote.

He also highlighted Austria’s unwavering contribution to North Macedonia, underlining the need to intensify coordination in integration efforts, as well as in initiatives that directly serve the needs of citizens.

He stressed that solving this issue is urgent because of the area’s merchants, who consider this crossing vital for their activity.

“We are currently considering two solutions. The option that seems most feasible is installing a traffic light, while the other alternative involves demolishing the bridge if it poses an obstacle. Since this bridge is not fully used by citizens, its demolition could be an option to properly regulate that crossing. This is necessary because, although it was closed for a period, at the insistence of Bit Pazar merchants—where many families earn a living—the crossing was reopened to support business interests,” Mexhiti stated.
