Although Albulena Haxhiu has been elected speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, she continues to serve as the country’s president during this period.

She will hold both positions until a solution is found for the election of Kosovo’s new president.

However, it remains unclear what will happen if a new president is not elected by October 6, the date on which the specified deadline expires.

In such a case, the institutions will face the need to determine the next steps, while political parties have limited time to avoid another institutional crisis.

In a statement to “Bota sot,” jurist Blerim Burjani said that greater political engagement is needed to reach a compromise, as otherwise early elections cannot be avoided.

According to him, Haxhiu has been tasked with this responsibility, and a president must be elected within 60 days. If the process fails, the country will go to early elections, as this is the available deadline for electing the head of state.

Burjani said that the main responsibility for finding a solution now lies with VV. He stressed that if an agreement is not reached, the constitutional deadline will continue to run and Kosovo will be forced to hold new elections.

As an alternative, the jurist mentioned forming a classic coalition with the LDK, under which the party would be given the presidency and five ministries. According to him, such an agreement would clarify the situation, while in its absence the road leads directly to elections.

Juristi Blerim Burjani, në një prononcim për “Bota sot”, vlerësoi se duhet një angazhim më i madh politik për të arritur kompromis, pasi në të kundërtën zgjedhjet e jashtëzakonshme nuk mund të shmangen.

Sipas tij, Haxhiu është ngarkuar me këtë detyrë dhe brenda 60 ditësh duhet të zgjidhet presidenti. Nëse procesi dështon, vendi kalon në zgjedhje të jashtëzakonshme, pasi ky është afati në dispozicion për zgjedhjen e kreut të shtetit.

Burjani tha se përgjegjësia kryesore për gjetjen e një zgjidhjeje tani i takon VV-së. Ai theksoi se, nëse nuk arrihet marrëveshje, afati kushtetues do të vazhdojë të ecë dhe Kosova do të detyrohet të mbajë zgjedhje të reja.

Si alternativë, juristi përmendi krijimin e një koalicioni klasik me LDK-në, ku kësaj partie do t’i jepej posti i presidentit dhe pesë ministri. Sipas tij, një marrëveshje e tillë do ta qartësonte situatën, ndërsa në mungesë të saj rruga të çon drejtpërdrejt në zgjedhje.
