Benjamin, the son of imam Gazmend’s uncle, said the clashes between them were not new and that there had also been problems about a year and a half ago. According to him, last night’s incident escalated because of a conflict related to livestock feed.

“A year, a year and a half ago, the imam had problems with this monster. He threatened the imam, saying they would come to the house here with a machine gun, and the imam reported him to the police several times, but they never opened a single case over it. I don’t believe he is of sound mind. Only a monster could do something like that. Yes, the problem was over hay. The imam had mowed a meadow that belongs to neither him nor that man, because no one lives here, so we can mow it. No one uses the hay, we use it. And when the imam mowed it, he came and said, ‘the hay is mine.’ And the imam said, ‘it’s no problem, take the hay, there’s no need to have a problem over hay,’” Benjamin said.

He also said that shortly before the attack, the murder suspect had been with his father at a cafe near the scene. According to his account, the two then went to the imam supposedly to talk, while later the son allegedly attacked him from behind with a knife, stabbing him 15-16 times in the back.

“The son and the father left the cafe together. Then they came here to the imam. As people, we go to the imam if we have a problem to talk about, we speak with the imam, the imam doesn’t close the door, not even at 3 o’clock, you can come to the imam. And he came. After two minutes only the father went back to the cafe again and said, ‘Go check on the imam, my son has done a terrible thing. See what has happened.’ When the doctor and the people from the cafe came, the imam here… he stabbed him 15-16 times in the back with a knife… Terror,” Benjamin told kp.

In this case, police have arrested the murder suspect, as well as his father. The latter is suspected of the criminal offense of “failure to provide assistance.”

The suspect in the imam’s killing was arrested today. The police spokesperson for the Prizren region, Shaqir Bytyqi, said that several police units were engaged in locating and detaining him.

“After intensive operational-investigative actions undertaken continuously by the Kosovo Police, the suspect in the murder case in the village of Zlipotok, Dragash, was located and arrested. Various police units were engaged in the operation to locate and arrest the suspect, including the use of a drone for aerial surveillance as well as the K-9 police unit,” Bytyqi said.

Benjamini, djali i axhës së hoxhë Gazmendit, tha se përplasjet mes tyre nuk ishin të reja dhe se probleme kishte pasur edhe rreth një vit e gjysmë më parë. Sipas tij, ngjarja e mbrëmshme degradoi për shkak të një konflikti që lidhej me ushqimin e bagëtive.

“Para një viti, një vit e gjysmë kishte problem hoxha me këtë monstrumin. Ai e ka kërcënuar hoxhën që vijnë me mitraloz në shtëpi këtu, edhe hoxha e ka lajmëruar policinë disa herë, ama ata s’e kanë hap asnjë rast për këtë. Unë s’po besoj që është mirë me mend. Këtë vetëm një monstrum mundet me bë ashtu diçka. Po, për sanë ishte problemi. Hoxha e ka kosit një livadh që s’është, as ai, as hoxha s’është pronar i livadhit, sepse këtu asnjëri s’jeton, mundemi me kosit. Asnjëri s’përdor sanën, ne e përdorim. Edhe kur e ka kosit hoxha, ai ka ardhë edhe po thotë ‘sana është e jemja’. Edhe hoxha po thotë ‘s’o problem merre sanën, s’ka nevojë problem për sana me pasë”, tha Benjamini.

Ai tregoi gjithashtu se pak para sulmit, i dyshuari për vrasjen kishte qenë bashkë me të atin në një kafene pranë vendit të ngjarjes. Sipas rrëfimit të tij, të dy më pas shkuan te hoxha kinse për të biseduar, ndërsa më vonë djali dyshohet se e sulmoi nga prapa me thikë, duke e goditur 15-16 herë në shpinë.

“Ky djali edhe baba kanë dalë prej kafes bashkë. Edhe kanë ardhur këtu te hoxha. Ne si njerëz po shkojmë te hoxha me fol nëse kemi diçka problem, po flasim me hoxhën, hoxha s’po mbyll derën, as në ora 3, mundeni me ardhë te hoxha. Edhe ai ka ardhë. Pas dy minutave vetëm babai ka shkuar te kafja prapë edhe po thotë ‘shkoni këqyrni hoxhën, djali im ka bo helaç. Këqyrni çka është”. Kur kanë ardhë mjeku edhe njerëzit prej kafes, hoxha këtu… 15-16 herë në shpinë me thikë e ka goditur… Terror”, tha Benjamini për kp.

Për këtë rast, policia ka arrestuar të dyshuarin për vrasjen, si edhe babanë e tij. Ky i fundit dyshohet për veprën penale “mosdhënie e ndihmës”.

I dyshuari për vrasjen e hoxhës u arrestua sot. Zëdhënësi i policisë për rajonin e Prizrenit, Shaqir Bytyqi, bëri të ditur se në gjetjen dhe ndalimin e tij janë angazhuar disa njësi policore.

“Pas veprimeve intensive operativo-hetimore të ndërmarra pa ndërprerje nga Policia e Kosovës, është arritur të lokalizohet dhe të arrestohet i dyshuari për rastin e vrasjes në fshatin Zlipotok, Dragash. Në operacionin për lokalizimin dhe arrestimin e të dyshuarit janë angazhuar njësi të ndryshme policore, duke përfshirë përdorimin e dronit për vëzhgim nga ajri si dhe njësinë policore me qen (K-9)”, tha Bytyqi.
