The Ministry of Defense has published the latest information on the fire situation in the country.

According to data available up to 20:00, seven fires have been identified. Of these, four remain active, while the other three are under monitoring. The overall situation is improving.

A total of 140 personnel, three helicopters and two Air Tractor aircraft have been deployed in field operations to support the operational forces.

Main active fires:

Work to contain the fire in Dajt, Tirana, is continuing, involving 50 Armed Forces personnel and one helicopter. Homes are not at risk. In Priskë, the fire has reignited, but it is being monitored by the operational forces and poses no threat to populated areas.

In Lufaj, Mirditë, the fire remains active, although it is burning at low intensity and spreading slightly. Forces have been stationed near the area and, in this case as well, no danger to homes has been reported.

The operation on Mount Tërbun, in Pukë, is taking place in difficult terrain. The operation involves 13 firefighters, eight Forestry Service employees, 45 municipal personnel, 22 volunteers and 30 Armed Forces personnel, supported by two helicopters. Here too, there is no danger to populated areas.

The fire in Gurë-Lurë has been completely extinguished following the deployment of around 150 local personnel, 30 Armed Forces personnel and two Air Tractor aircraft.

The fire in Bruç, Mat, has also been completely extinguished. Meanwhile, the fires in Qafë Helmes, Tharri and Selenicë remain under monitoring and pose no danger to populated areas.

Civil Protection structures are continuing coordinated operations and monitoring in all affected areas, prioritizing the protection of lives and homes, as well as preventing the spread of the flames.

The National Civil Protection Agency is monitoring the situation continuously across the country, in close cooperation with the prefectures, municipalities and other structures within the Civil Protection system.

Operational capacities remain deployed in the field and on standby for intervention, depending on needs, with a focus on protecting lives, homes and citizens’ property.

The Armed Forces held a meeting to review the results of their work during the first six months of this year. Defense Minister Ermal Nufi said that the Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania had successfully achieved the main objectives for this period.

The review was attended by Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Lieutenant General Arben Kingji, as well as the commanders and directors of Armed Forces structures.

During the meeting, progress was highlighted in several areas, including recruitment, training, operations, modernization, infrastructure and resource management, alongside the maintenance of security and operational readiness.

The reorganization of structures has helped improve command effectiveness and the use of resources. Meanwhile, cooperation with NATO, the United States of America and regional partners has helped strengthen the forces’ preparedness and interoperability.

Attention has also been devoted to increasing military capabilities through the acquisition of new systems and the implementation of strategic projects. In the coming period, the priority will be the full operational integration of these capabilities through personnel preparation, training and infrastructure development, with the aim of expanding operational capabilities and strengthening Albania’s contribution to collective defense.
