Following the expiration of the deadline to vacate the premises of the “Hasan Prishtina” University of Pristina, which are used by the Faculty of Technical Sciences in North Mitrovica, Rector Arben Hajrullahu has demanded that the property be returned to UP and that the matter be handled in accordance with the law.

The University of Pristina announced that, between February 9 and March 10, 2026, an official request was sent to the Faculty of Technical Sciences to vacate the building within 30 days.

Through this request, the faculty was asked to voluntarily hand over the property to its legal owner, the University of Pristina, or to initiate proceedings to legally regulate its use of the building. UP said it is ready to cooperate in this process.

In a statement to KosovaPress, Hajrullahu said the institution operating in the north is trying to appropriate the identity of the University of Pristina. He also said that the former Faculty of Metallurgy building, which is owned by UP, is being used unlawfully.

According to him, the so-called University of Pristina, headquartered in Mitrovica, which he hopes will one day become the University of North Mitrovica in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Kosovo, is seeking, among other things, to appropriate UP’s identity. Hajrullahu added that the former Faculty of Metallurgy has been occupied, even though the building belongs to the University of Pristina.

The rector warned that any person or party using university property without a legal basis will be subject to the appropriate proceedings.

He mentioned construction on the University of Pristina campus, as well as the occupation of properties belonging to the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Agriculture, stressing that everyone, without exception, will face the full force of the law. According to Hajrullahu, their removal from UP properties being used illegally will be sought.

Addressing the illegal users publicly, Hajrullahu demanded that all properties be returned to their legitimate owner, the University of Pristina.

His appeal included properties on the main campus, at the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Agriculture, as well as the former Faculty of Metallurgy building in North Mitrovica. “Hands off the properties of the University of Pristina,” was his message, warning that otherwise legal action would be intensified through regular proceedings.

KosovaPress also contacted the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Technical Sciences in North Mitrovica for comment, but had received no response by the time the article was published. According to a faculty notice, the institution is on collective leave until August 21.

Me përfundimin e afatit për lirimin e ambienteve të Universitetit të Prishtinës “Hasan Prishtina”, të cilat shfrytëzohen nga Fakulteti i Shkencave Teknike në Mitrovicën e Veriut, rektori Arben Hajrullahu ka kërkuar që prona t’i kthehet UP-së dhe çështja të trajtohet sipas ligjit.

Universiteti i Prishtinës ka bërë të ditur se, në periudhën 9 shkurt – 10 mars 2026, Fakultetit të Shkencave Teknike i është dërguar një kërkesë zyrtare që objekti të lirohet brenda 30 ditësh.

Përmes kësaj kërkese, fakultetit i është kërkuar që ta dorëzojë vullnetarisht pronën te pronari ligjor, Universiteti i Prishtinës, ose të nisë procedurën për rregullimin juridik të shfrytëzimit të objektit. UP-ja ka deklaruar se është e gatshme të bashkëpunojë për këtë proces.

Në një prononcim për KosovaPress, Hajrullahu tha se institucioni që vepron në veri po përpiqet të marrë identitetin e Universitetit të Prishtinës. Ai gjithashtu deklaroi se ish-objekti i Fakultetit të Metalurgjisë, pronë e UP-së, po përdoret në mënyrë të kundërligjshme.

Sipas tij, i ashtuquajturi Universiteti i Prishtinës me seli në Mitrovicë, për të cilin shpreson se një ditë do të jetë Universiteti i Mitrovicës Veriore në përputhje me ligjet e Republikës së Kosovës, po synon, ndër të tjera, ta përvetësojë edhe identitetin e UP-së. Hajrullahu shtoi se ish-Fakulteti i Metalurgjisë është uzurpuar, ndonëse objekti i takon Universitetit të Prishtinës.

Rektori paralajmëroi se çdo person apo palë që përdor prona universitare pa mbështetje ligjore do t’u nënshtrohet procedurave përkatëse.

Ai përmendi ndërtimet në kampusin e Universitetit të Prishtinës, si dhe uzurpimin e pronave të Fakultetit Teknik dhe Fakultetit të Bujqësisë, duke theksuar se të gjithë, pa asnjë përjashtim, do të përballen me fuqinë e ligjit. Sipas Hajrullahut, do të kërkohet largimi i tyre nga pronat e UP-së që po shfrytëzohen ilegalisht.

Duke iu drejtuar publikisht shfrytëzuesve të paligjshëm, Hajrullahu kërkoi që të gjitha pronat t’i kthehen pronarit të tyre legjitim, Universitetit të Prishtinës.

Ai përfshiu në këtë apel pronat në kampusin qendror, te Fakulteti Teknik dhe Fakulteti i Bujqësisë, si dhe ish-ndërtesën e Fakultetit të Metalurgjisë në Mitrovicën Veriore. “Duart larg nga pronat e Universitetit të Prishtinës”, ishte mesazhi i tij, ndërsa paralajmëroi se, në të kundërtën, përballja me ligjin do të intensifikohet përmes procedurave të rregullta.

KosovaPress i është drejtuar për koment edhe Dekanatit të Fakultetit të Shkencave Teknike në Mitrovicën e Veriut, por deri në kohën e publikimit të lajmit nuk ka marrë përgjigje. Sipas njoftimit të fakultetit, institucioni është në pushim kolektiv deri më 21 gusht.
