After the incident last night in the studio of Teve 1, where the debate was interrupted due to tensions with analyst Nexhmedin Spahiu, economics expert Mustafë Kadriaj has issued a public reaction.

The conflict erupted during the discussion when Kadriaj referred to Spahiu with the terms “pseudo-Yugoslav remnant,” prompting the political science professor to demand an explanation for the insult. The atmosphere worsened after Kadriaj told him, “What’s your problem, why are you opening your mouth,” which escalated the situation and led to the broadcast being cut off.

In his subsequent statement, Kadriaj expressed regret for his actions, admitting he had reacted impulsively. “It is human to apologize to the public for my behavior, and I am ready, if requested, to apologize to Albanians everywhere, wherever they are. Without doubt, my reaction was in the heat of the moment, and I regret it,” he wrote.

However, he justified his behavior by emphasizing that he was provoked by Spahiu’s remarks about former president Hashim Thaçi, whom Kadriaj believes is being unjustly tried in The Hague. “But to insult a figure like Hashim Thaçi, who, with all the flaws he may have as a person, has proven his patriotic side and for this is unfairly facing trial in The Hague, was unacceptable to me,” he added.

Kadriaj also claimed that Spahiu had used offensive language toward Thaçi and criticized the management of the debate in the studio. “I was forced to leave the studio, but Spahiu continued with insults, which was unacceptable to me at that moment,” he stated. In closing his reaction, Kadriaj reiterated his apology to the public, stressing that despite human mistakes, “liberators cannot be insulted.”

Instead, she expressed regret to President Aleksandar Vučić and Prime Minister Gjuro Macut. The minister claims that the two were unfairly attacked because of her words, which she says were misinterpreted.

During an interview with Informer television, Paunović described the isolation of just seven seconds from the entire programme as a malicious act, claiming that a political case had been fabricated around that excerpt.

She explained that it was merely a personal story and not an official position. “That was my story, not a statement. It is unpleasant to have to explain that this is not the president’s policy, nor that of the Government,” Paunović stressed, Danas reports, as carried by KosovaPress.

Following the wave of reactions triggered by her statement, Paunović thanked her supporters, specifically mentioning the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), of which she is a member. She also criticised the media that, according to her, condemned the statement, adding that those who supported her showed that they defend their “dignity and honour”.
