Kosovo’s law enforcement forces have provided official details regarding the discovery of one of their officers deceased on Albanian territory, specifically in the village of Morina, Kukës. According to the announcement, the victim was a member of the Rapid Response Unit based in Prizren.

In the press release, it is stated that on July 22, 2026, Kosovo authorities received a notification from their counterparts in Albania. Around 08:25 in the morning, in the area of the Morina cemetery, the lifeless body of a citizen with the initials SH.H., 35 years old and a resident of Prizren, was found.

Immediately after receiving the information, Kosovo officers went to the scene to carry out identification procedures. They confirmed that the deceased was their colleague, serving with the Rapid Response Unit in the city of Prizren.

From the initial investigations conducted by the Albanian State Police, it is suspected that the 35-year-old took his own life using his personal weapon, a pistol. This weapon has been taken as material evidence by Albanian experts to continue the investigation into the circumstances of this tragic event.

The Supreme Court has published the final list of candidates who meet the legal criteria to be elected members of the High Judicial Council (HJC).

The names were officially confirmed following the completion of the process to verify compliance with the requirements established by law. The procedure was launched by the Supreme Court on June 26, 2026, and is intended to elect three new members of the HJC: one judge from the courts of first instance, one from the courts of appeal, and one from the Supreme Court.

According to the announcement, the verification was conducted pursuant to Law No. 115/2016 “On the Governance Bodies of the Justice System.”

Following the completion of this stage, the Supreme Court officially announced the candidates who meet the legal requirements.

Following the procedure announced by the Supreme Court on June 26, 2026, for the election of one judge from among the judges of the courts of first instance, one judge from among the judges of the courts of appeal, and one judge from among the judges of the Supreme Court as members of the High Judicial Council, and following the completion of the process to verify compliance with the legal requirements, pursuant to Law No. 115/2016 “On the Governance Bodies of the Justice System,” the Supreme Court officially announces the final list of candidates who meet the legal requirements to be elected members of the High Judicial Council, as follows:

According to the institution, the purpose of the campaign is to encourage voluntary compliance with the law and ensure full equality among all taxpayers.

Recent analyses carried out by the KTA have revealed that a considerable number of individuals have benefited from rental agreements without registering with the tax authorities, reporting their income, or paying the relevant taxes.

For this reason, the authorities are asking these individuals to immediately take three necessary steps: obtain a Tax Identification Number if they have not already done so, complete their income declaration, and pay tax in accordance with the applicable legal provisions.

The KTA stresses that it has a database, information and concrete evidence enabling it to identify landlords. In the absence of voluntary action, the administration warns that it will apply the compulsory measures provided for under tax law.

These measures include compulsory registration by the tax office, tax assessments based on the evidence collected, the application of late-payment interest and fines, as well as any other administrative and criminal action permitted by the legal framework.

In its statement, the KTA reiterates its commitment to promoting voluntary tax payment and ensuring full legality in the treatment of all taxpayers.

For any additional information on registration, declaration and payment procedures, citizens are invited to use the official communication channels or visit the regional offices of the Tax Administration in person.
