“Citizens should be informed that an official investigation has been opened in Hungary into the one-billion-euro loan, for which Mickoski and his government reached an agreement with Hungary and his friend, Orban.

In addition to the significant increase in public debt, which in itself is a concern, the loan is also accompanied by serious suspicions of criminal activity and, unfortunately, illegal actions.

Published information indicates that the Hungarian National Bureau of Investigation has seized thousands of pages of documents related to the activities of ‘Eximbank.’

Zhernovski stressed that one of the most suspicious issues, which has been discussed and repeatedly raised in public, concerns the origin of the funds.

“Are we talking about money that came from China and that Hungary received from it shortly before we, as a state, secured this loan?” Zhernovski asked.

Krahas rritjes së ndjeshme të borxhit publik, e cila përbën në vetvete një shqetësim, kjo kredi shoqërohet edhe me dyshime serioze për krim dhe, fatkeqësisht, për veprime të paligjshme.

Informacionet e publikuara bëjnë të ditur se Byroja Kombëtare Hungareze e Hetimeve ka sekuestruar mijëra faqe dokumentesh që lidhen me veprimtarinë e “Eximbank”.

Zhernovski theksoi se një prej çështjeve më të dyshimta, për të cilën është folur dhe është ngritur vazhdimisht në publik, lidhet me origjinën e fondeve.

According to Zhernovski, the issue has now gone beyond the claims raised by SDSM as an opposition party and has turned into a subject of police work.

“Even after the account of the ‘successful borrowing’, some questions remained unanswered: Who negotiated the loan? Who decided which projects would be selected? Where did the funds end up? Did the money come from China? Which companies benefited? And what information did the government of the country have specifically about this entire deal? You can present the taking of one billion euros as an achievement. But when a criminal investigation is opened for that same billion, the time for boasting ends and the time for giving explanations before the prosecutor’s office begins.”

“If everything is in order, so much the better. Then publish all documents and enable the public to examine them. Macedonia is not anyone’s private property, and one billion euros of public debt is not an ‘Orban gift’. This amount will be repaid by our citizens, our children, and generations after them. However, when suspicions of crime arise over one billion euros, the issue is no longer limited to just the question ‘where is the money?’. One must also ask who will be held accountable,” Zhernovski stated.

Marrjen e një miliard eurove mund ta paraqesësh si arritje. Por, kur për të njëjtin miliard hapet një hetim penal, koha e mburrjes përfundon dhe nis dhënia e shpjegimeve para Zyrës së prokurorit.”

“Nëse gjithçka është e rregullt, aq më mirë. Atëherë publikojini të gjitha dokumentet dhe mundësojini opinionit t’i shqyrtojë. Maqedonia nuk është pasuri private e askujt, ndërsa një miliard euro borxh publik nuk përbën ‘dhuratë të Orbanit’. Këtë shumë do ta shlyejnë qytetarët tanë, fëmijët tanë dhe brezat pas tyre. Andrej Zhernovski, secretary for international cooperation at the Social Democratic Union of Macedonia (SDSM), said that a scenario for controlling the media space has begun to be implemented in Macedonia, similar to the one he says is used by Aleksandar Vučić in Serbia.

He said he had warned about this development two months ago, describing the situation as an operation to create media darkness under Vučić’s direct patronage and leadership.

Zhernovski announced that the sale of Adria News Network’s media outlets to the investment group Alpac Capital was completed in Serbia the previous day. The network includes N1, Nova, Radar, Forbes Serbia and Danas.

According to him, Alpac Capital has close ties to Viktor Orbán, for whom it has served as a partner, adviser and friend. Zhernovski recalled that in 2022 the group bought a majority stake in Euronews, while it was later reported that €45 million of the transaction had been secured by a Hungarian state fund and €12.5 million through a company linked to the Hungarian government’s communications operations.

“These are not isolated business deals, but a plan aimed at gaining full control of the media space in our country. This model has been established in Serbia and is now being applied here as well,” he said, adding that the acquisition of the license for Macedonia’s third mobile operator by the Hungarian company 4iG was not a coincidence.

Zhernovski stressed that this issue should be treated as a much more serious development than an ordinary political or economic matter. He said the presence of media outlets from the “Serbian world,” which he considers close to Vučić’s government, is expanding.

He also referred to reports from Brussels over the past two years, including those by the European Parliament and the European Commission, which discuss the existence and influence of the “Serbian world” in Macedonia.

According to information from the SDSM, one of the scenarios envisages the ALO group entering Macedonia’s television market, with the possibility of acquiring ownership of Nasha TV. In this process, Zhernovski said, Ivana Taleska is expected to play an important role through the Euronews project, which began in September.

Zhernovski also mentioned Latas, whom he described as an implementer of Mickoski’s policies. He claimed that the authorities were pursuing this approach to avoid questions about crimes, tenders and the lack of reforms, at a time when, according to him, the country has no European perspective.

“The aim is for citizens to hear only one version of the truth, the one that will be presented to them as the only possible one. Unfortunately, the country is heading toward media darkness and a ‘democratic’ life without free media, without criticism and without the truth,” he said.

In conclusion, Zhernovski asked whether it was now clear why Mučunski had given an interview specifically to Euronews. He stressed that, in his view, this was not merely about ownership of a television station or news portal, but about general control of the country’s public space.

Andrej Zhernovski, a member of the Executive Board of the Social Democratic Union of Macedonia (SDSM), accused Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Timcho Mucunski of making contradictory statements regarding alleged talks to unblock North Macedonia’s European path.

At a press conference, Zhernovski said that on August 3, several media outlets reported statements by Mucunski claiming that talks to unblock European integration were being held “under the radar.” However, as he stressed, ten days later the minister denied these claims and accused the opposition of spreading lies.

“This is not a matter of any silence, nor is it a matter of any denial; as far as Mucunski is concerned, he was simply caught in a lie,” Zhernovski declared.

According to him, such conduct is part of the ruling VMRO-DPMNE’s broader political strategy. He criticized the Government for focusing on attacks against the opposition and critics instead of showing results.

Zhernovski claimed that Mucunski is now also intervening in domestic political issues, saying that earlier he had dealt with the situation in the Municipality of Aerodrom and at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also accused Mucunski of threatening the opposition and citizens who raise the alarm about certain problems.

In this context, Zhernovski referred to the SDSM’s response to the situation involving drinking water in Gostivar, as well as the delayed responses to cases of West Nile fever. Në një konferencë për shtyp, Zhernovski tha se më 3 gusht disa media transmetuan deklarata të Mucunskit, sipas të cilave bisedimet për zhbllokimin e integrimit evropian po zhvilloheshin “nën radar”. Mirëpo, siç theksoi ai, dhjetë ditë më vonë ministri i mohoi këto pretendime dhe e akuzoi opozitën për përhapje të gënjeshtrave.

“Nuk bëhet fjalë për ndonjë heshtje, nuk bëhet fjalë për ndonjë mohim, sigurisht, për sa i përket Mucunskit, ai thjesht u kap në gënjeshtër”, deklaroi Zhernovski.

Sipas tij, një sjellje e tillë është pjesë e strategjisë më të gjerë politike të OBRM-PDUKM-së në pushtet. Ai e kritikoi Qeverinë se, në vend që të tregojë rezultate, po përqendrohet te sulmet kundër opozitës dhe kritikëve.

Zhernovski pretendoi se Mucunski tashmë po ndërhyn edhe në temat e brendshme politike, pasi më herët, siç u shpreh ai, ishte marrë me gjendjen në Komunën e Aerodromit dhe në Ministrinë e Punëve të Jashtme. Zhernovski said that politicians, journalists and citizens had been confronted with an unexpected turn in Timcho Mucunski’s politics and diplomacy. According to him, the change began when Mucunski acknowledged that citizens are not “North Macedonians,” as the party had claimed when it was in opposition, and that their language is not “North Macedonian,” but that they are Macedonians and speak the Macedonian language.

“Kjo është arsyeja e gjithë kësaj strategjie për atë që po ndodh sot në këto ambiente. Përndryshe, si mund të shpjegohet se LSDM-ja kishte të drejtë? Duhet të pranohet se pikërisht mbi ato gënjeshtra erdhën në pushtet”, u shpreh ai.

Zhernovski tha se politikanët, gazetarët dhe qytetarët u përballën me një kthesë të papritur në politikën dhe diplomacinë e Timço Muçunskit. Sipas tij, ndryshimi nisi kur Muçunski pranoi se qytetarët nuk janë “maqedonas të veriut”, siç pretendonte partia kur ishte në opozitë, dhe se gjuha e tyre nuk është “maqedonase e veriut”, por se ata janë maqedonas dhe flasin gjuhën maqedonase.
