Alliance MP Albana Bytyqi has called on the Vetëvendosje Movement to convene the constitutive session of the Assembly of Kosovo.

During a press conference held in the Assembly lobby, Bytyqi said there was no longer any reason to delay the formation of the new institutions, as the LDK had expressed its readiness to vote for a consensus president.

She said it was well known that Serbia does not recognize the Constitution, but that they had not expected the government not to recognize it either. Despite this, Bytyqi stressed that they would work to ensure that LVV convenes the session and constitutes the Assembly. According to her, the LDK also stated last night that there was no reason to delay the Assembly’s constitution, so LVV should complete this process and then proceed with the other procedures.

Besnik Tahiri, an Alliance MP, has requested a meeting with Avni Dehari, who is chairing the constitutive session of the Kosovo Assembly, to coordinate and prepare for the continuation of the session.

In a Facebook post, Tahiri said he sent the request to Dehari today, stressing that, under the Assembly’s Rules of Procedure, the next session must be held tomorrow.

He proposed that the meeting be held on the Assembly premises by 13:30, citing institutional responsibility and the need to comply with parliamentary procedures.

Tahiri said he was awaiting confirmation of the time and venue of the meeting, adding that they would address the media in the Assembly lobby afterward.

Alliance MP Ramush Haradinaj said that the constitution of the Assembly after the constitutional deadline had expired raises questions about this legislature’s ability to deliver any results.

According to Haradinaj, the ultimate objective of the winning party has been to send the country to elections again.

“I no longer know whether this legislature has the power to produce any effect.

Given the situation, very few options remain, or we are reaching the point that was the goal all along—to send us to elections again,” Haradinaj said.
