The Alliance for Albanians has reacted following a ceremony organised to mark the 25th anniversary of the Rapid Intervention Unit within North Macedonia’s Ministry of Interior, known as EBR.

According to the party, no Albanians were present at the event and not a single word was spoken in Albanian. The Alliance for Albanians said the ceremony conveyed the image of an institution in a mono-ethnic state.

In its full reaction, the Alliance for Albanians stressed that the EBR marked its 25th anniversary through a state ceremony, during which decorations and recognitions were awarded. However, according to the party, what was seen at the event created the impression of an institution in a mono-ethnic state.

ASH claims that no Albanians took part in the official ceremony, while the Albanian language was entirely absent from the institutional stage. According to the statement, the Albanian Deputy Minister of Interior was also not present.

As part of the ceremony, the best member was awarded, while plaques were presented to institutional leaders. A total of 33 members were honoured for 25 years of service, but ASH says Albanians were once again left invisible, as if they do not exist in this country.

The party described it as unacceptable and unjustifiable for the matter to be treated as a simple protocol oversight.

“Where is VLEN? Where is Deputy Minister Astrit Iseni?” ASH asked, raising doubts about the role of Albanian representation in the Ministry of Interior if, at such an anniversary, Albanians and the Albanian language are removed from the institutional picture.

The Alliance for Albanians is seeking public answers from the Ministry of Interior on the number of Albanians currently serving in the Rapid Intervention Unit, the number of Albanians among the 33 recipients of decorations, the reason for the absence of the Albanian language at the ceremony, and the absence of the Albanian deputy minister.

According to ASH, VLEN may continue counting its positions, while citizens, as the statement says, are seeing every day how many Albanians are disappearing from institutions. The party added that silence in the face of this situation does not constitute representation, but merely serves as a decoration for VMRO-DPMNE’s government.

The preliminary list of candidates seeking admission as new cadets to the Military Academy in Skopje includes 46 people, but only one of them is Albanian. The Alliance for Albanians views this figure as an indication of the insufficient representation of Albanians in the institution that trains the future personnel of the Armed Forces.

The party has also criticized VLEN, which is part of the government and is represented in the Ministry of Defense. According to ASH, this structure has remained silent and has shown no commitment to increasing the participation of young Albanians in the defense sector. “Being in power, claiming to represent Albanians and being unable to secure even basic representation for your fellow Albanian citizens is not power, but merely decoration,” the Alliance for Albanians said in its response.

ASH believes that VLEN, as part of the government and holding the position of deputy minister in the Ministry of Defense, should have taken concrete steps to encourage, assist and support young Albanians in applying to the Military Academy. “With the aim of increasing the number of Albanians in the defense sector, this preliminary list is clear evidence that nothing has been done in this regard, and this is undoubtedly VLEN’s latest failure,” ASH said.

The Alliance for Albanians is calling on the Ministry of Defense and the Military Academy to provide immediate explanations, while urging the Albanian representatives in the government to assume political responsibility. “Albanians are not asking for privileges, but for fair, equal and dignified representation in the state institutions,” the statement concludes.

The Alliance for Albanians has taken a firm stance on the state of the breast cancer screening program, calling on the Ministry of Health to take immediate measures to ensure regular and effective services for all women across the country.

In a press release, the Alliance for Albanians noted that while developed countries are expanding their early breast cancer detection initiatives, women in North Macedonia continue to face obstacles, uncertainty, and a system that, according to the party, is not functioning. The Alliance for Albanians stressed that time is a decisive factor in malignant diseases and that any delay in diagnosis could have serious consequences for patients’ health.

“In the case of cancer, a one-month delay can come at a very high cost. Detection in the early stages significantly increases the chances of successful treatment, and institutions are obliged to ensure that screening is accessible and functional for every woman,” the statement said.

The Alliance for Albanians called on the Ministry of Health to put the breast cancer screening program into full operation without delay, schedule regular examination appointments, and make the results public promptly.

The Alliance for Albanians reiterated that women’s well-being must be an institutional priority and that the responsible authorities must intervene urgently to ensure an operational system for the rapid detection of this disease.

“There is no room for games with women’s health and lives. The government has an obligation to act, not remain silent,” the Alliance for Albanians’ statement concluded.

The Alliance for Albanians has criticized the video released by the Government to mark the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence. According to the Alliance for Albanians, Albanians were almost entirely excluded from the video, while the Albanian language was left out altogether.

The party described it as unacceptable that official content, financed in part by the taxes of Albanian citizens, should be based on a monoethnic narrative and create the impression that the country belongs to only one community.

The Alliance for Albanians stressed that Albanians have been an integral part of the country’s major political and social developments, from the period of independence and the establishment of democratic institutions to NATO membership and the path toward the European Union. According to the party, their contribution in the political, economic, educational, cultural and social spheres is indisputable and therefore cannot be disregarded or erased from the official state narrative.

The Alliance for Albanians called on the Government to withdraw the video and replace it with new material that is dignified, representative and inclusive. According to the party, it should respect the Albanian language and properly portray the role of Albanians in the country’s history, development and present-day reality.

The party also expressed regret over the lack of a response from Albanian representatives in the Government, who, as stated in its reaction, choose to remain silent even when the dignity, identity and representation of Albanians are directly undermined. The Alliance for Albanians emphasized that the country belongs to all its citizens and that this should also be reflected in state symbolism.

The Alliance for Albanians has announced that the situation in Gostivar is moving toward full normalization.

According to the Alliance for Albanians, the improvement is the result of the response by local and central institutions, the continued efforts of crisis teams at the local and central levels, as well as assistance from other municipalities, healthcare personnel, experts, companies and friends.

The party expressed its full support for Gostivar Mayor Valbon Limani, saying that he is managing the situation calmly, transparently and with a commitment to the safety and health of residents.

The Alliance for Albanians stressed that the disaster that struck Gostivar must not be turned into a tool for boosting political ratings.

According to the party, the severe situation the city went through cannot be used to score political points. It said that the events and residents’ concerns should not be exploited to build a political cause, boost ratings or run a party campaign.

The Alliance for Albanians added that it is easy to criticize from afar, while residents know and remember who stood by them during the most difficult days and who did not help even with a bottle of water, but limited themselves to public statements and accusations.

The statement also said that the relevant institutions must uncover every failure and establish responsibility in each case. However, the Alliance for Albanians called for the delicate situation in Gostivar not to be exploited to stir up tensions, promote victimhood or secure party-political gains.

The Alliance for Albanians says the situation in Gostivar is moving toward full normalization. According to the party, this is being achieved thanks to the efforts of local and central institutions, organizations, friends and all parties involved, which it thanked for their readiness and support.

The statement says that crisis teams at the local and central levels are operating extremely efficiently. Meanwhile, the Municipality of Gostivar is cooperating fully with the relevant institutions and has made all its resources available to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.

Efforts to restore normality are continuing intensively. It is expected that water for technical use will be secured very soon, followed by safe drinking water.

At the same time, the Alliance for Albanians called on all parties not to exploit the situation for political gain at the expense of citizens. Its criticism was directed particularly at those who, according to the party, have not brought even a single bottle of water to Gostivar, but have confined themselves solely to opposing the institutions’ actions.

The statement emphasizes that political ratings cannot be built on someone else’s misfortune. At this moment, priority must be given to resolving the situation and supporting citizens.

The party also called for all circumstances and responsibilities to be established through a fair, objective and transparent procedure.

The party stressed that while serving as a member of the State Commission for the Prevention of Corruption, Arif Musa had called for different standards to be applied to appointments in public institutions. “The irony is that Arif Musa, as a former member of the Commission for the Prevention of Corruption, once called for appointments to be reviewed and competitions to be reopened wherever nepotism was found. Today, the same principles should apply to him as well,” AA stressed.

The statement also mentions Nusret Haliti, whom AA identifies as Arif Musa’s nephew and the current acting director of the Agency for Electronic Communications.

“Family favouritism continues with his nephew, Nusret Haliti, who holds the position of director of the Agency for Electronic Communications,” the statement said.

The Alliance for Albanians has called on institutions and the public to clarify the procedures followed for these appointments. “We therefore publicly ask whether there was political influence in these appointments and whether the procedures were transparent and competitive,” AA stated.

In conclusion, AA claims that VLEN has failed to fulfil its pledge to fight nepotism. “VLEN did not fight nepotism. It merely waited its turn to benefit from it,” the Alliance for Albanians’ statement concluded.

Following the debate over the new Electoral Code and the lack of a common position among the parties, Snopçe said that ASH is in favor of the diaspora voting both electronically and by post, but not through three separate electoral districts.

He stressed that their position is for voters from the diaspora to vote for the polling centers linked to their addresses in the country. According to him, the aim is not to have separate MPs from the diaspora, but for its vote to affect the 120 MPs, depending on where they live in the country.

Snopçe added that if the population census is also linked to the diaspora, then such an approach is very logical.

Among other things, he said they support scrapping the three electoral districts, with one MP each for the diaspora, and having diaspora votes directly affect MPs in Macedonia.

ASH is calling for political accountability, real reforms, and the restoration of seriousness to the country’s European agenda.

According to Taravari, VLEN set out on the path to government by seeking the support of Albanians and promising change, but after two years, citizens, as he says, are not seeing results, only silence, excuses and retreat. Taravari further adds that VLEN had promised it would bring a voice to the Government, but according to him, it ended up becoming the shadow of other people’s decisions.

“Albanians did not vote for ministers who count the days in their seats and remain silent when citizens’ interests are affected. VLEN did not fall because of inability, but because of the choice to remain in power at any cost. The Alliance for Albanians said it and proved that when there is no delivery, there is no reason to stay on as decoration. The time for excuses is over. Now every promise must be measured by work, and every mandate by responsibility to the citizens,” Taravari writes at the end.
