Following the Special Court’s ruling against former KLA leaders, the need for unity and institutional coordination regarding future actions has emerged in Kosovo. Acting President Albulena Haxhiu has called on institutions and political entities to put divisions and mutual accusations behind them.

According to Haxhiu, Kosovo needs a common position and coordination of the steps that may be taken going forward during this period. She said discussions on these actions have already begun.

She said the situation should be treated as a priority and that every subsequent action should be coordinated so that no step is taken that could further complicate Kosovo’s position or that of the individuals convicted in The Hague.

“Everything else, I think, further complicates both the position of the Republic of Kosovo and the position of the people who were sentenced to so many years in prison. That is why I emphasize that they must cooperate; we must make this issue a priority,” Haxhiu said, RTK reports.

The acting president said that at this time there should be no divisions or clashes over accusations about who is a “spy” or a “traitor,” but that institutions should focus on coordinating the next steps.

Haxhiu also criticized the PDK’s decision to refer the issue of forming the Assembly and the government to the Constitutional Court, just two days before the Special Court’s ruling. She described the move as meaningless under the current circumstances.

Asked about the matter in the Assembly lobby, PDK Chairman Bedri Hamza said that they currently see no greater priority than the initiative to amend the law on the Specialist Chambers.

On Wednesday, the Special Court in The Hague sentenced former KLA leaders to a total of 81 years in prison. Following this first-instance verdict, statements have been made and discussions have begun about the next steps, including the appeals phase.

Pas vendimit të Gjykatës Speciale ndaj ish-krerëve të UÇK-së, në Kosovë është ngritur nevoja për unitet dhe koordinim institucional lidhur me veprimet e ardhshme. Ushtruesja e detyrës së presidentes, Albulena Haxhiu, u ka kërkuar institucioneve dhe subjekteve politike t’i lënë pas përçarjet dhe akuzat reciproke.

Sipas Haxhiut, Kosova në këtë periudhë ka nevojë për një qëndrim të përbashkët dhe bashkërendim të hapave që mund të ndërmerren më tej. Ajo ka bërë të ditur se për këto veprime tashmë kanë nisur diskutimet.

Ajo ka vlerësuar se situata duhet të trajtohet me prioritet dhe se çdo veprim i radhës duhet të koordinohet, në mënyrë që të mos ndërmerret ndonjë hap që mund ta vështirësojë më shumë pozitën e Kosovës ose atë të personave të dënuar në Hagë.

“Gjithçka tjetër mendoj që e vështirëson edhe pozitën e Republikës së Kosovës, por edhe vetë pozitën e personave që u dënuan me kaq shumë vite burgim. Prandaj edhe e theksoj që duhet të bashkëpunojnë, duhet ta kemi prioritet këtë çështje”, ka deklaruar Haxhiu, raporton RTK.

Ushtruesja e detyrës së presidentes ka thënë se në këto momente nuk duhet të ketë ndarje dhe përplasje rreth akuzave se kush është “spiun” apo “tradhtar”, por institucionet duhet të përqendrohen në koordinimin e hapave të mëtejshëm.

Haxhiu ka kritikuar gjithashtu vendimin e PDK-së për ta dërguar në Gjykatën Kushtetuese çështjen e konstituimit të Kuvendit dhe të Qeverisë, vetëm dy ditë para vendimit të Gjykatës Speciale. Ajo e ka cilësuar këtë veprim si të pakuptimtë në rrethanat aktuale.

I pyetur në hollin e Kuvendit për këtë çështje, kryetari i PDK-së, Bedri Hamza, ka deklaruar se aktualisht nuk shohin ndonjë përparësi më të madhe sesa nismën për ndryshimin e ligjit për Dhomat e Specializuara.

Following confirmation of the identities of three victims through DNA analysis, Kosovo’s acting president, Albulena Haxhiu, said that efforts to find missing persons would not stop. The victims’ remains had been exhumed from mass graves in Kalludër and Jabukë in Zubin Potok.

In a Facebook post, Haxhiu said the victims were Albanians from Skenderaj and Mitrovica and members of the group known as the “Group of Intellectuals,” who were abducted by Serbian forces on April 19, 1999.

She emphasized that their families had spent 27 years without knowing the whereabouts of their loved ones, while now, although the pain continues, the long wait has come to an end.

Haxhiu expressed solidarity with these families and said she also sympathized with other families awaiting the results of the excavations in the coming weeks.

According to her, the search will continue until the last forcibly disappeared person is found and those responsible are brought to justice.

Identiteti i tri viktimave u konfirmua përmes analizave të ADN-së, pasi mbetjet e tyre mortore u zhvarrosën nga varrezat masive në Kalludër dhe Jabukë të Zubin Potokut.

Sipas Haxhiut, viktimat ishin shqiptarë nga Skenderaj dhe Mitrovica, pjesë e grupit të njohur si “Grupi i Intelektualëve”. Ata u rrëmbyen nga forcat serbe më 19 prill 1999.

Në postimin e saj, Haxhiu tha se familjet kaluan 27 vjet pa e ditur ku ndodheshin të dashurit e tyre. Tani pritja e tyre ka marrë fund, ndonëse dhimbja mbetet. Ajo u shprehu ngushëllime dhe tha se bashkëndjen edhe me familjet e tjera që presin rezultatet e gërmimeve në javët në vijim.

Kosovo’s Acting President and Speaker of the Assembly, Albulena Haxhiu, has reacted to the latest developments related to the judgment against former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army at the Specialist Chambers in The Hague.

In a post published on Facebook, Haxhiu stated that supporting the former KLA leaders constitutes a civic and institutional responsibility. However, she said this cannot be used as a reason to attack political opponents, witnesses or citizens of Kosovo.

She stressed that no one defends the KLA by immediately declaring those with opposing political views “spies” and “traitors,” or by seeking culprits among citizens.

Haxhiu criticized the use of these labels at rallies, on television programs and in public posts, saying that such behavior repeats the logic behind the accusations brought against the former KLA leaders.

According to her, labeling an opponent as an enemy and turning that person into a target of attack does not strengthen the defense, but instead serves the narrative of the prosecution.

Haxhiu underscored that an entire people cannot be considered a source of “spying,” since the evidence concerns specific individuals who have names and personal responsibility. She warned that such an approach is untrue, insulting and dangerous, as it incites fear, lynching and division.

She called on all people who have information about individuals who have harmed or are harming the national and state interest to submit it as soon as possible to the security and justice authorities, so that the cases can be fully addressed.

“No injustice is corrected through another injustice,” Haxhiu wrote, adding that the values of the KLA’s war are defended through truth, justice and dignity, not through slander and threats.

In conclusion, the Acting President called on all individuals who act or appear publicly to show restraint and reflect the values and virtues that characterize society and the nation.

Haxhiu nënvizoi se nuk mund të konsiderohet një popull i tërë si burim i “spiunimit”, pasi dëshmitë lidhen me individë konkretë, të cilët kanë emër dhe përgjegjësi personale. Ajo paralajmëroi se një qasje e tillë është e pavërtetë, fyese dhe e rrezikshme, pasi nxit frikë, linçim dhe përçarje.

Ajo u bëri thirrje të gjithë personave që kanë të dhëna për individë që kanë dëmtuar ose dëmtojnë interesin kombëtar dhe shtetëror, t’ua dorëzojnë ato sa më shpejt organeve të sigurisë dhe drejtësisë, në mënyrë që rastet të trajtohen tërësisht.

The Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, has reacted following the approval of the new government, headed by Prime Minister Albin Kurti.

In a Facebook post, she congratulated Prime Minister Kurti and the entire new government, wishing them success in their duties.

Haxhiu said that Kosovo’s institutions face important responsibilities in implementing reforms, promoting economic growth, strengthening the rule of law and improving the international standing of the Republic of Kosovo.

She said that the Assembly would fulfill its role by pursuing the legislative agenda and exercising parliamentary oversight over the work of the executive.

According to Haxhiu, following today’s votes, Kosovo now has its Assembly and Government in place, while the election of the President of the Republic remains to complete the process of establishing the institutions.

The Speaker of the Assembly expressed her expectation that lawmakers would fulfill their constitutional responsibility and that the procedure for electing the President would be successfully concluded.

“Kosovo needs strong, functional and stable institutions, not further waiting and delays,” Haxhiu wrote.
