Ahmet Grajqevci, chairman of the Coordinating Council of Associations of Families of Missing Persons in Kosovo, said that suspicions about the existence of mass graves in northern Kosovo and Serbia date back to the end of the war. According to him, recent developments in Zubin Potok have strengthened the belief that there may be other sites in the area where the bodies of people who went missing during the war were concealed.

Grajqevci stated that the relocation and concealment of the bodies were carried out as part of an organized state plan.

In a statement to eo, he said that from the outset, the families had suspected the presence of between two and four mass graves in the north. However, in the first years after the war, it was not possible to investigate these suspicions due to a lack of resources and authority.

“From the beginning, we suspected that there could be two, three, or as many as four mass grave sites in the north. We say this because we went there several times with Jashar Jupa, the late former commander of the War Crimes Police, as well as with UNMIK. But we only viewed those places from the surface. We did not have the equipment to conduct further searches, while the authority of UNMIK and our police at the time was very limited. We had no technology or equipment of any kind that could help us discover anything,” he said.

He also referred to documents belonging to the Užice Corps that were seized in the Podujeva area, as well as evidence concerning the clearing of the terrain, raising suspicions that another mass grave may be located near Raška.

“I must also connect this matter to the Užice Corps. In documents seized in the Podujeva area, the witness explains that after the operations carried out, including killings, looting, burnings, and expulsions, each platoon was tasked with what is called ‘asanacija terena’ in Serbian, meaning the clearing of the terrain. This involved collecting the bodies, burying them, or transporting them by truck to another location, where they were then buried and recorded with numbers and complete details. The records also included the villages, the number of people taken from them, houses burned, material damage, and animals, such as cows and calves, because all of this had to be documented as part of the clearing of the terrain. The witness says that after the bodies were loaded onto a truck at Kërshi i Dudës, the corps commander gave the direction ‘pravac Brevenik.’ I do not know where Brevenik is located, but when I looked it up on a map, it appeared to be on the outskirts of Raška. For this reason, the presence of a mass grave is also suspected in that area,” he said.

Ahmet Grajqevci, kryetar i Këshillit Koordinues të Shoqatave të Familjarëve të Personave të Zhdukur në Kosovë, ka thënë se dyshimet për ekzistencën e varrezave masive në veri të Kosovës dhe në Serbi datojnë që nga përfundimi i luftës. Sipas tij, zhvillimet e fundit në Zubin Potok e kanë forcuar bindjen se në atë zonë mund të ketë edhe lokacione të tjera ku janë fshehur trupat e personave të zhdukur gjatë luftës.

Grajqevci deklaroi se zhvendosja dhe fshehja e trupave është realizuar në kuadër të një plani të organizuar shtetëror.

Në një deklaratë për eo, ai tha se familjarët kishin dyshuar që në fillim për praninë e dy deri në katër varrezave masive në veri. Megjithatë, në vitet e para pas luftës, hetimi i këtyre dyshimeve nuk ishte i mundur për shkak të mungesës së mjeteve dhe kompetencave.

“Që prej fillimit kemi pasur dyshime se në veri mund të ndodheshin dy, tri apo deri në katër lokacione me varreza masive. Këtë e themi sepse kemi shkuar disa herë atje me Jashar Jupën, ish-komandantin e ndjerë të Policisë për Krime Lufte, si dhe me UNMIK-un. Por ato vende i kemi parë vetëm nga sipërfaqja. Nuk kishim pajisje për të kryer kërkime të mëtejshme, ndërsa kompetencat e UNMIK-ut dhe të policisë sonë në atë kohë ishin shumë të kufizuara. Nuk kishim asnjë lloj teknike apo aparati që do të na ndihmonte të zbulonim diçka”, tha ai.

Ai iu referua gjithashtu një materiali të Korpusit të Uzhicës, të kapur në pjesën e Podujevës, si dhe dëshmive për pastrimin e terrenit, duke ngritur dyshimin se një tjetër varrezë masive mund të gjendet pranë Rashkës.

“Këtë çështje duhet ta lidh edhe me Korpusin e Uzhicës. Në një material të kapur në pjesën e Podujevës, dëshmitari shpjegon se pas aksioneve të kryera, përfshirë vrasjet, plaçkitjet, djegiet dhe dëbimet, çdo togë kishte për detyrë atë që në serbisht quhet ‘asanacija terena’, pra pastrimin e terrenit. Kjo nënkuptonte grumbullimin e trupave, varrosjen e tyre ose transportimin me kamion drejt një lokacioni tjetër, ku më pas varroseshin dhe regjistroheshin me numra e të dhëna të plota. Në evidencë përfshiheshin edhe fshatrat, numri i personave të marrë prej tyre, djegiet e shtëpive, dëmet materiale dhe kafshët, si lopët e viçat, sepse të gjitha këto duhej të regjistroheshin si pjesë e pastrimit të terrenit. Dëshmitari tregon se, pasi trupat u ngarkuan në kamion në Kërshi i Dudës, komandanti i korpusit dha drejtimin ‘pravac Brevenik’. Nuk e di se ku ndodhet Breveniku, por kur e kërkova në hartë, më doli se gjendet në periferi të Rashkës. Për këtë arsye, edhe në atë zonë dyshohet për praninë e një varreze masive”, tha ai.
