Today’s incident in the Kosovo Assembly, where AAK MP Time Kadrijaj threw eggs at Prime Minister Albin Kurti, has sparked discussion not only about the conduct of elected representatives in the country’s highest representative institution. The incident also raises the question of whether Kadrijaj acted spontaneously or whether the action had been prepared in advance.

The manner in which the confrontation unfolded leaves room for such a question. Since eggs are not part of the Assembly’s inventory, they had to have been bought or obtained by someone, brought into the building and kept there before the incident. This circumstance does not in itself prove that the act was carried out on political orders, but it weakens the claim that everything was decided on the spur of the moment.

This also raises a political question: Was the AAK leadership aware of what was about to happen?

Time Kadrijaj is part of the AAK’s political structure, not an MP who has distanced herself from it. For many years, the party’s identity has been closely associated with Ramush Haradinaj and his leadership style. From the AAK’s founding through 2026, Haradinaj has been its dominant figure.

For this reason, it is legitimate to ask whether such a demonstrative act, which also carries political consequences, could have been undertaken without the knowledge of the party’s leading figures.

An earlier case makes this debate even more significant. In 2020, Avdullah Hoti was attacked with eggs during discussions over the tariff on Serbian goods. Just days before that attack, Haradinaj had said that the person who removed the tariff “should also get eggs.” He later denied that the AAK was behind the attack, but reiterated that whoever removed the tariff “should get eggs.”

This precedent does not constitute evidence regarding today’s incident. Nevertheless, it makes the question of whether the choice of eggs as a tool of political protest was entirely coincidental this time as well all the more relevant.

The long-standing political clash between Haradinaj and Kurti also looms in the background. Given the harsh rhetoric between them, some members of the public may interpret the incident not only as a protest inside the Assembly, but also as a symbolic expression of political revenge.

However, in the absence of a statement, testimony or concrete fact linking Ramush Haradinaj to the preparation of the incident, it cannot be claimed that he ordered or coordinated the action.

The question, however, remains open.

On Sunday, Kosovo’s security forces announced the identification of a new site in Zubin Potok that is suspected of concealing human remains.

According to a joint statement by the Kosovo Police and the Special Prosecutor’s Office, the location in the village of Jabukë was discovered during ongoing investigations into events in the area.

Acting Interior Minister Xhelal Sveçla said that at what is believed to be a mass grave, at least four bodies had so far been exhumed. He said he had just returned from the scene and that the victims had been thrown into a lime pit after being executed.

Professor and legal expert Muhamet Kelmendi emphasizes that war crimes and genocide are not subject to a statute of limitations and, for that reason, must be prosecuted whenever new facts come to light.

He considers the discovery of mass graves an essential step toward shedding light on the atrocities committed and calls for exhaustive investigations. According to him, claims justifying the forced displacement of civilians are troubling, while determining legal responsibility falls to the judicial system.

Kelmendi explains that international criminal law considers violations committed during war among the most serious offenses and, under its fundamental principles, they do not expire. When evidence and testimony are sufficient, the authorities have an obligation to investigate, arrest suspects and conduct judicial proceedings against the individuals involved. At the same time, international justice mechanisms and state institutions must continue supporting the documentation of crimes, the discovery of mass graves and the prosecution of those responsible. Only through the enforcement of the law, respect for the truth and the punishment of perpetrators can lasting peace be built and the recurrence of such atrocities prevented.

Justice for the victims is not only a legal obligation but also a moral debt to history, to the families who are still searching for their relatives, and to generations who deserve to live in a region where crimes are not denied but investigated and punished in accordance with domestic law and international conventions.

A new site suspected of containing human remains has been identified in Zubin Potok, Kosovo’s law enforcement authorities announced on Sunday.

In a joint statement, the Kosovo Police and the Special Prosecution said the site is located in the village of Jabukë and was discovered as part of the investigation into the Zubin Potok case.

Acting Interior Minister Xhelal Sveçla said that at least four bodies have so far been discovered at the site of the suspected mass grave.

Speaking to the media after visiting the site, Sveçla said that the bodies of at least four people found at this stage had been thrown into a lime pit after being executed.

Lawyer and professor Muhamet Kelmendi believes the discovery of mass graves is particularly important in shedding light on the crimes and that thorough investigations are therefore needed. Kosovo Police and the Special Prosecution Office announced on Sunday that they had identified another location in Zubin Potok where human remains are suspected to be located.

The Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure (MMPHI) reaffirmed that protecting water resources constitutes a strategic pillar of its activity, signaling that operations to clear illegally occupied water spaces and unpermitted constructions will intensify.

Through a statement distributed on social media, the ministry announced that it has begun prioritizing the review of requests from institutions and public companies for the return of water properties that have been seized or unlawfully alienated.

Describing the protection of water resources as a national priority, MMPHI stressed that for this reason, water properties have become the main focus of institutional engagement. The ministry announced that it is urgently processing requests for the clearance of all spaces that have been encroached upon or expropriated outside the legal framework.

This commitment, according to the ministry, extends across the entire territory of the country, with the most recent intervention in the area of Lake Ujman cited as a concrete example. During this operation, assisted by the MMPHI Inspectorate and the Kosovo Police, 16 illegally built structures on water properties managed by the Public Enterprise “Ibër-Lepenci” were demolished. The ministry added that this action is merely one of the steps in a broader plan, for which all involved parties were notified in advance and in full compliance with legal procedures.

The Basic Prosecution in Pristina has confirmed the arrest of three individuals, who will be detained for 48 hours. They face charges of “Abuse of official position” and “Document forgery”.

The operation was conducted by the Economic Crimes and Corruption Unit within the Serious Crimes Department, in partnership with the Kosovo Police and the Kosovo Intelligence Agency. This action came after a months-long investigative period during which special investigative measures were applied.

Among the arrested, two hold positions in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Specifically, one works in the Division for Foreigners and the other is employed in the Civil Registration Agency.

According to the official announcement, preliminary investigations show that the suspects F.Sh. and G.J., in their role as public officials, are accused of the criminal offense “Abuse of official position or authority.” Meanwhile, the third suspect, identified as D.K., is charged with “Document forgery.”

The prosecution clarifies that suspicions indicate F.Sh. and G.J. are believed to have cooperated to equip foreign nationals with residence permits. Through this mechanism, they are thought to have provided the necessary documentation to these individuals, deriving illegal financial benefits.

Regarding the suspect D.K., investigations suggest that he produced forged documents. The purpose of this action was to enable other individuals to apply for and obtain residence permits illegally in the territory of Kosovo.

The State Prosecutor is expected to assess within legal deadlines the possibility of requesting security measures against the defendants, in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code. The institution emphasized its ongoing commitment, in coordination with the Police and other bodies, to fight corruption and economic crime, as well as to strengthen the rule of law and protect the public interest.
