Glauk Konjufca, acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, has commented on the meetings held by Vetëvendosje Movement leader Albin Kurti with the leaders of PDK and LDK.

According to Konjufca, the conversation between Kurti and PDK leader Bedri Hamza showed that the party continues to largely adhere to positions it has held for a long time, which he described as old positions.

According to him, a different impression emerged after the meeting with LDK. Konjufca said that, unlike on previous occasions, the party displayed a greater willingness this time to overcome the situation Kosovo is facing.

He said LDK had shown greater readiness to cooperate and that the prospects of reaching an agreement depended directly on political will. According to him, the more willing the parties are to cooperate, the more options there will be for finding a solution and sharing various responsibilities. Konjufca added that there had been a total deadlock, particularly since the December elections.

Speaking about internal developments within the Democratic League of Kosovo, Konjufca stressed that it was not their place either to comment on or advise this political party, as LDK has operated in Kosovo for a long time.

He emphasized that LDK enjoys full autonomy to make decisions on its internal affairs and expressed confidence that its leaders know how to resolve matters within the party themselves.

Regarding cooperation with the Vetëvendosje Movement, Konjufca said Kurti’s meeting with Osmani and Abdixhiku involved a different kind of discussion compared with previous occasions. According to him, this has made them more optimistic that a solution can be reached soon.

Konjufca also addressed AAK’s position. He said that although the party’s representatives declined to attend the meeting with Kurti, they presented their reasons and the conditions under which they would be willing to cooperate.

During the visit, Gërvalla and her team were received by acting supervising judge Valon Hajdini, as well as judges and representatives of the branch’s administrative staff.

She said that during the meeting she was informed about the institution’s condition and performance, its caseload and efficiency in handling cases, as well as the challenges the court faces and the steps taken to reduce the number of unresolved cases.

“Justice reform is not a political promise, but a state necessity. The package of five justice reform laws, the Vetting process, and the operationalization of the State Bureau for the Verification and Confiscation of Unjustifiable Assets constitute the main pillars in building a justice system that is more accountable, more trustworthy, and fairer for the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo,” Gërvalla said.

Gërvalla further stated that the Republic of Kosovo cannot be built on impunity and cannot move forward with weak institutions.

“Justice must be strong, professional, and uncompromising toward illegality, because only in this way is citizens’ trust strengthened and the Republic itself consolidated. Justice reform has no alternative, while impunity is not an option for a state governed by the rule of law,” she said.
