A meeting between Vetëvendosje Movement leader Albin Kurti and Democratic League of Kosovo leader Lumir Abdixhiku has begun on the premises of the Kosovo Assembly.

The talks are being held as part of efforts to overcome the political deadlock and reach an agreement that would enable the new institutions to become operational.

Former President Vjosa Osmani and LDK Deputy Leader Lutfi Haziri are also attending the meeting.

Before the meeting, Kurti expressed optimism about the possibility of cooperation with the LDK.

“We will meet with the LDK and see how we can move forward together. Naturally, with mutual trust and in a positive atmosphere,” Kurti said.

Kurti and Abdixhiku have also held meetings in the past, but so far they have not reached a final agreement.

Abdixhiku, Osmani and Haziri arrived at the Assembly for the meeting with Kurti at 16:17.

LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku, together with MPs Vjosa Osmani and Lutfi Haziri, went to the Assembly to meet LVV leader and acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti.

Earlier in the day, acting President Albulena Haxhiu held a consultative meeting with political party leaders at the Office of the President. The election of the new president was the main focus.

The PDK, LDK and the Alliance, the three opposition parties, did not attend the meeting.

Kurti arrived for the meeting with the LDK at 16:16 and told the media on his way in that he was approaching the meeting with a positive attitude.

“We will meet with the LDK and see how we can move forward together. Naturally, with mutual trust and in a positive atmosphere,” Kurti said.

The meeting between Kurti and Abdixhiku had been announced amid the latest political developments and efforts to find a solution to the current situation in Kosovo.

Acting President Albulena Haxhiu had invited the parliamentary parties to a meeting on Tuesday. However, the former opposition parties—the PDK, LDK and the Alliance—boycotted it.

This development was announced at a press conference held after Haxhiu’s meeting with representatives of parliamentary political parties from non-majority communities.

The Kurti-Abdixhiku meeting began at 16:34.

Takimi mes kryetarit të Lëvizjes Vetëvendosje, Albin Kurti, dhe kreut të Lidhjes Demokratike të Kosovës, Lumir Abdixhiku, ka nisur në ambientet e Kuvendit të Kosovës.

Bisedimet zhvillohen në kuadër të përpjekjeve për tejkalimin e ngërçit politik dhe arritjen e një marrëveshjeje që do të mundësonte funksionalizimin e institucioneve të reja.

Në takim janë të pranishme edhe ish-presidentja Vjosa Osmani dhe nënkryetari i LDK-së, Lutfi Haziri.

Para takimit, Kurti u shpreh optimist për mundësinë e bashkëpunimit me LDK-në.

“Do takohemi me LDK-në dhe do të shohim se si mund të ecim bashkë përpara. Natyrisht me mirëbesim dhe atmosferë positive”, ka deklaruar Kurti.

Kurti dhe Abdixhiku kanë zhvilluar takime edhe në të kaluarën, por deri tani nuk kanë arritur një marrëveshje përfundimtare.

Abdixhiku, Osmani dhe Haziri mbërritën në Kuvend për takimin me Kurtin në orën 16:17.

Më herët gjatë ditës, ushtruesja e detyrës së presidentes, Albulena Haxhiu, zhvilloi një takim konsultativ me liderët e partive politike në Zyrën e Presidentes. Në fokus ishte zgjedhja e Presidentit të ri.

PDK-ja, LDK-ja dhe Aleanca, si tri partitë opozitare, nuk morën pjesë në këtë takim.

Kurti mbërriti për takimin me LDK-në në orën 16:16 dhe u deklaroi mediave gjatë rrugës se po shkonte në takim me pozitivitet.

“Do takohemi me LDK-në dhe do të shohim se si mund të ecim bashkë përpara. Natyrisht me mirëbesim dhe atmosferë positive”, tha Kurti.

Takimi mes Kurtit dhe Abdixhikut ishte paralajmëruar në kuadër të zhvillimeve të fundit politike dhe përpjekjeve për të gjetur një zgjidhje për situatën aktuale në Kosovë.

Ushtruesja e detyrës së presidentes, Albulena Haxhiu, kishte ftuar partitë parlamentare në takim për të martën. Megjithatë, ish-partitë opozitare, PDK-ja, LDK-ja dhe Aleanca, e bojkotuan atë.

Ky zhvillim u bë i ditur pas një konference për media të mbajtur pas takimit që Haxhiu zhvilloi me përfaqësues të partive politike parlamentare të komuniteteve jo-shumicë.

The invitation from Acting President Albulena Haxhiu for a meeting with the political parties has not received a positive response from any political entity.

Haxhiu had requested that political representatives meet tomorrow at 9 a.m. to discuss the political crisis.

After the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) immediately rejected the invitation, the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) has also announced that it will not attend.

LDK Chairman Lumir Abdixhiku confirmed this position in a statement to Dukagjini television.

“We hold meetings with party leaders. In this case, the only meeting we can have is with the chairman of the LVV, Albin Kurti. In our view, Ms. Haxhiu is a member of the Assembly and, in this context, we can speak only with those responsible for this matter,” Abdixhiku said.

Ftesa e ushtrueses së detyrës së Presidentes, Albulena Haxhiu, për një takim me partitë politike nuk ka marrë përgjigje pozitive nga asnjë subjekt.

Haxhiu kishte kërkuar që përfaqësuesit politikë të mblidheshin nesër në ora 9, me qëllim diskutimin e krizës politike.

Pas PDK-së dhe AAK-së, të cilat e refuzuan menjëherë këtë ftesë, edhe LDK-ja ka bërë të ditur se nuk do të marrë pjesë.

Kryetari i LDK-së, Lumir Abdixhiku, e konfirmoi këtë qëndrim përmes një deklarate për televizionin Dukagjini.

Lumir Abdixhiku secured the majority of votes to continue as chairman of the LDK at the party’s General Assembly, held on 30 July.

LDK MP Arben Gashi stated that the unsuccessful attempt to remove Abdixhiku from the leadership has not caused resentment, describing it as part of the democratic functioning within the party.

According to Gashi, some of the structures sought a different political direction because they believed that, under current circumstances, Abdixhiku was no longer the suitable figure to lead the LDK.

He said that the decision resulting from the vote must be respected and that this process does not have to turn into a personal conflict between party members.

On the programme “Intervista e Javës”, Gashi described this as a normal democratic development, admitting that supporters of the change still do not constitute a majority. He added that if, in the future, an overwhelming majority of LDK members and delegates agrees that the party needs a different dynamic and new movements, then the chairman could also be changed. Gashi underlined that their goal is not to eliminate the chairman of this party or any other party, while repeating that there is no reason for resentment, as it would harm both sides.

Referring to the figures of the process, he said that 152 delegates to the Assembly, out of 355 in total or 327 who were present, assessed that Abdixhiku, at the current stage, does not inspire enough to win elections for the LDK. According to them, he cannot be the contact and dialogue person who would secure the maximum during the constitution of institutions and in a negotiation process.

Lumir Abdixhiku siguroi shumicën e votave për të vazhduar në postin e kryetarit të LDK-së në Kuvendin e Përgjithshëm të partisë, të zhvilluar më 30 korrik.

Deputeti i LDK-së, Arben Gashi, deklaroi se përpjekja e pasuksesshme për ta larguar Abdixhikun nga udhëheqja nuk ka shkaktuar hatërmbetje, duke e cilësuar atë si pjesë të funksionimit demokratik brenda partisë.

Sipas Gashit, disa prej strukturave kërkuan një orientim tjetër politik, sepse mendonin se, në rrethanat aktuale, Abdixhiku nuk ishte më figura e përshtatshme për ta drejtuar LDK-në.

Ai tha se vendimi i dalë nga votimi duhet respektuar dhe se ky proces nuk ka pse të shndërrohet në konflikt personal mes anëtarëve të partisë.

Në emisionin “Intervista e Javës”, Gashi e përshkroi këtë si një zhvillim normal demokratik, duke pranuar se përkrahësit e ndryshimit ende nuk përbëjnë shumicën. Ai shtoi se, nëse në të ardhmen shumica dërrmuese e anëtarëve dhe delegatëve të LDK-së pajtohet se partisë i duhet një dinamikë tjetër dhe lëvizje të reja, atëherë mund të ndryshohet edhe kryetari. Gashi nënvizoi se synimi i tyre nuk është eliminimi i kryetarit, i kësaj apo i ndonjë partie tjetër, ndërsa përsëriti se nuk ka arsye për hatërmbetje, pasi ajo do t’u kalojë të dyja palëve.

Lumir Abdixhiku, leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), announced after a meeting of the parliamentary group that his party would no longer seek a role in the government or the presidency.

According to Abdixhiku, the LDK’s bid for the presidency was aimed at creating a balance among the country’s institutions.

He said the Vetëvendosje Movement (LVV) had offered the LDK only three ministries and the post of deputy prime minister, describing the proposed role in the government as “decorative.”

“Vetëvendosje’s offer envisaged the LDK having a purely decorative presence in the government, with only three ministries and the deputy prime minister’s post. We did not accept such subordination,” Abdixhiku stated.

The LDK leader claimed that after his party rejected these terms, the LVV launched a public confrontation against it.

“Trust is the foundation on which coalitions are built,” he said.

In closing, Abdixhiku confirmed that the LDK was withdrawing all its demands to be part of the executive, as well as its bid for the presidency.

“The LDK is no longer seeking participation in the government and is withdrawing its bid for the presidency. The LVV will not use the LDK as decoration. The LDK will remain in opposition,” Abdixhiku stated.

Lumir Abdixhiku, kryetar i Lidhjes Demokratike të Kosovës (LDK), njoftoi pas mbledhjes së grupit parlamentar se partia e tij nuk do të kërkojë më përfshirjen në qeveri dhe as postin e presidentit.

Sipas Abdixhikut, pretendimi i LDK-së për pozitën e presidentit synonte krijimin e një balance mes institucioneve të vendit.

Ai tha se Lëvizja Vetëvendosje (LVV) i kishte ofruar LDK-së vetëm tri ministri dhe postin e zëvendëskryeministrit, duke e përshkruar rolin e propozuar në qeveri si “dekorativ”.

“Oferta e Vetëvendosjes parashihte që LDK-ja të kishte një prani thjesht dekorative në qeveri, me vetëm tri ministri dhe zëvendëskryeministrin. Një nënshtrim të tillë nuk e pranuam”, deklaroi Abdixhiku.

Kreu i LDK-së pretendoi se, pasi partia e tij nuk i pranoi këto kushte, LVV-ja nisi një përballje publike kundër saj.

“Besimi është themeli mbi të cilin krijohen koalicionet”, u shpreh ai.

Në mbyllje, Abdixhiku konfirmoi tërheqjen e LDK-së nga të gjitha kërkesat për të qenë pjesë e ekzekutivit, si dhe nga pretendimi për postin e presidentit.

“LDK-ja nuk kërkon më pjesëmarrje në qeveri dhe tërhiqet nga kërkesa për presidentin. LVV-ja nuk do ta përdorë LDK-në si dekor. LDK-ja do të mbetet në opozitë”, deklaroi Abdixhiku.
