Preng Gjoka, the 71-year-old who was seriously injured in a road accident at the beginning of July, has passed away at the Trauma Hospital in Tirana.

The serious incident occurred on the morning of July 4 on the Lezhë–Milot road, near the Rrile intersection. The elderly man was riding his bicycle when he was struck by a “Benz” vehicle with Kosovo license plates.

As a result of the impact, he suffered multiple injuries and was immediately taken to the Regional Hospital of Lezha for first aid, and then urgently transferred to the Trauma Hospital in the capital for specialized treatment.

Despite continuous medical care, the 71-year-old could not survive his injuries and passed away several weeks after the accident.

Immediately after the collision, the driver of the vehicle was escorted and detained by the Police. Authorities are continuing investigations to fully clarify the causes and responsibilities of this incident.
