This morning, a man around 50 years old lost his life after falling from the balcony of a building in the “28 Nëntori” neighborhood in Vlorë, near the Orthodox Church.

The incident was recorded around 09:00, and police forces arrived at the scene.

The circumstances and causes of the event are still unknown.

Police have launched an investigation to clarify the full dynamics of the incident.

A 50-year-old man wanted internationally was arrested in Durrës during a police operation codenamed “FAST.” Operational officers from the FAST Albania Fugitive Search Unit, in coordination with the Durrës Local Police Directorate, located and detained Gentian Lika, who was born in Kavajë.

Italian authorities had placed Lika on the international wanted list after the Rome Court of Appeal sentenced him in March 2025 to six years in prison for the criminal offense of drug trafficking, committed in collaboration with others.

Police said the arrest was carried out to pave the way for the 50-year-old’s extradition to Italy. The relevant procedures are being handled by Interpol Tirana in cooperation with its Italian counterparts.

Operation “FAST” is continuing with the aim of tracking down and arresting internationally wanted individuals so they can face justice.
