After four months of investigations, the Tirana Police, in cooperation with the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office, has concluded the operation codenamed “Clean Schools,” targeting several groups suspected of distributing narcotics near schools and in various areas of the capital.

As part of the operation, 52 individuals were identified who, either separately or in groups, were involved in selling different types of drugs. Security measures of “remand in custody” were enforced against 31 of them, while 14 others were declared wanted.

During the investigation phase, police also arrested seven other individuals, bringing the number of people involved in the investigation to a considerable total.

The investigation documented that drugs were distributed near primary and secondary schools, while in some cases scooters, taxis and delivery services were used to avoid police attention.

During the operation and investigation, 1 kilogram and 75 grams of heroin, 1 kilogram and 265 grams of cocaine, 685 grams of cannabis, one pistol, 90 rounds of ammunition, 12 vehicles and 35 mobile phones, as well as other illicit items, were seized.

After four months of investigations, the police operation codenamed “CLEAN SCHOOLS” was concluded by the Narcotics Investigation Sector at the Tirana Local Police Directorate, in cooperation with the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office.

Several groups selling narcotics near schools were targeted.

Fifty-two individuals, members of the groups, were identified as selling various types of narcotics, either separately or in groups, near schools and in various areas of the capital.

Thirty-one security measures of “remand in custody” were enforced against members of the groups.

Meanwhile, efforts to apprehend 14 other individuals are continuing.

Seven individuals were arrested during the investigation period.

During the investigation period and the enforcement of the security measures, 1 kilogram and 75 grams of heroin, 1 kilogram and 265 grams of cocaine, 685 grams of Cannabis sativa, one pistol, 90 rounds of ammunition, two electronic scales, 12 vehicles, 35 mobile phones and other illicit items were seized.

As part of the operation codenamed “CLEAN SCHOOLS,” security measures of “remand in custody” were enforced against 31 individuals, specifically:

The 14 other individuals identified by the investigation as members of these groups have been declared wanted. As the investigation is ongoing, their identities have not been made public. Efforts to apprehend them and fully document this criminal activity are continuing.

The investigation documented that these groups sold narcotics near primary and secondary schools and in various areas of Tirana.

In some cases, to avoid the attention of police units in the field, the narcotics were distributed using scooters, as well as taxi and delivery services.

The procedural materials were referred to the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office for further action.

Tirana Police remains fully focused on guaranteeing safety in schools and combating criminal activity. It assures parents and citizens that it will intensify checks and investigations to prevent and crack down on any criminal activity that threatens the safety of students.
